About the job
We are looking for a solution and detail-oriented, self-motivated Accounts Payable Lead to support Hopper’s fast-paced and global growth. You should be ready to be hands-on and to handle the day-to-day operations while being able to find innovative solutions to complex challenges to the AP and AR functions. The perfect candidate will thrive on making processes more efficient and scalable while ensuring the highest level of quality.

What would your day-to-day look like

  • Take ownership over the full Accounts Payable/Receivable process
  • Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and provide support during financial audits
  • Identify improvement opportunities (e.g. automation) to maximize time spent on value added tasks.
  • Periodically reviewing, tracking and reporting the performance of Accounts Payable team with external benchmarking, simplify the processes and improve team's performance
  • Manage system approval flows and automated batches of invoices pushed to our ERP system for payments
  • Support new partner onboardings and partner maintenance (i.e. default set-ups on GL coding, tax base, approval flows etc.)
  • Compliance with statutory requirements including issuance of 1099s to vendors, collecting W9 and W8 as required for processing payments to vendors
  • Liaison with suppliers and internal employees regarding invoices and status of payments.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and address issues

An ideal candidate has:

  • A degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics or other quantitative discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar position
  • Excellent communication skills in English. French and Spanish are an asset
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong data Analytics skills
  • Ability to go into the details to perform analysis and identify/develop scalable solutions to improve day-to-day operations
  • Able to handle a high volume of transactions/data and discover trends, patterns and insights that can be shared with the relevant teams
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, ability to recognize problems and find solutions autonomously
  • Technology/Travel industry experience is an asset
  • Expertise or strong desire to learn SQL and in general, using queries and programming as a tool to scale and solve problems
  • Experience with multinational entities, currencies and intercompany transactions
  • Experience with Coupa software and SOX control environment is an asset
