The primary responsibility of the position is to perform and oversee safety, quality repairs to customer equipment in a timely manner, utilizing experience and continuous process improvement to contribute to our team and work environment. The Truck and Coach Apprentice Technician will use their technical experience to ensure that all repairs completed are to the proper safety standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work with Standard Work procedures to identify areas for improvement
· Ensure all work being performed is done following healthy and safety guidelines
· Ability to diagnose our customers most challenging technical issues, including aftertreatment systems, engine electrical diagnostics, ABS and TCS diagnostics
· Ensure all equipment is in safe working condition and advise the Service Manager of any tools or equipment that require vendor repair or replacement
· Escalate safety concerns to Service Manager immediately
· Maintain open communication with Foreman through continuous updates and at team huddles
· Monitor jobs to avoid any problems or delays ahead of time
· Monitor, coach and train technicians on standards, productivity and quality of work
· Identify Technician skill levels to gauge supervision intervals
· Monitor job times to completion targets and communicate to Technicians
· Involve Parts Planner immediately in any parts required
· Track and repair tools and equipment that are out of service
· Perform all types of repairs and maintenance to transportation equipment
· Perform all tasks to best practices timelines
· Provide necessary hand tools for job completion
· Perform welding, including arc, MIG, Aluminum, Steel, air arc, plasma cutting and acetylene cutting
· Perform all types of brake, suspension, air system, electrical and body repairs
· Perform government safety inspections
· Ensure all parts and consumables being used are recorded on the work order at time of use
· Always keep work area in standard operating condition, including tools stored in standard locations
· Occasional road service calls for emergency service
· Promote a safe work environment, always follow safety standards and ensure timely reporting of any Health and Safety issues

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Training
· Grade 12 or equivalent with technical training
· Registered Truck & Trailer Apprentice
Skills and Experience
· Able to use large tools typical of transport equipment repair
· Experts in truck diagnostic analysis and resolution
· Basic welding skills
· Personal leadership skills
· Willingness and desire to coach and mentor other would be an asset
· Commitment to personal safety and safety of coworkers.
· Good written and oral communication
· Valid provincial driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
· A cooperative team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
· Strong technical skills related to transportation equipment
· Fluent in reading and writing in English
