We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Senior Social Media Communications Specialist who will help define, plan and implement the department’s media and thought leadership social strategy to build Geotab’s reputation, trust and engagement with stakeholders. This position will further develop and protect Geotab’s reputation and brand, build awareness, ensure message consistency and voice, and manage a measurement-based performance strategy. What you'll do:

As a Senior Social Media Communications Specialist your key area of responsibility will be to drive engagement and outcomes through planning, execution, content development and analysis across multiple social channels. You will employ creativity and best practices, creating content that is highly engaging and impactful. This role is a key resource to the Strategic Communications team, providing insights, advice on leading trends, and enabling the execution of integrated strategies to engage target audiences including journalists, thought leaders, employees, and business stakeholders. The position works closely with the Geotab Digital team integrating social media into the overall digital strategy and planning. To be successful in this role you will be a self starter with strong written and verbal communication skills. In addition, the successful candidate will be a collaborator and relationship builder with the ability to develop a strong understanding and desire to do what’s best for the team and Geotab’s business objectives.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Support the development and own execution of an integrated social media strategy and annual plan for the Strategic Communications team, aligning efforts to Department KPAs, strategic plan and business focus areas.
  • Work collaboratively with the Digital Media team helping shape and execute Geotab’s annual social media strategy.
  • Actively monitor media and social media trends developing best practices and creative initiatives that ensure Geotab is at the forefront of visibility and innovation in the media landscape.
  • Determine the optimal media mix to effectively reach target audiences and drive outcomes.
  • Manage Geotab’s publishing platform - News and Views - taking it from start-up to a high functioning interactive site increasing awareness, engagement and response.
  • Advise and execute best practices and effective engagement initiatives supporting Strategic Communications campaigns, milestone events and executive presence, ensuring consistency in messaging, language and tone.
  • Create and execute a monthly global Strategic Communications content calendar that leverages platform-specific opportunities across channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc)
  • Ideate, edit, and publish content that builds strong, measurable engagement.
  • Work with the team to leverage dashboards, and compile monthly social media metrics reports to analyze content performance, establish benchmarks and inform/change strategy.
  • Collaborate with design to develop engaging graphics and visuals for annual focus areas ensuring integrated theme, and direction is consistent and supportive of strategic plan.
  • Leverage tools to monitor social media for reputational issues, respond to comments, and identify trending thought leadership and industry topics and conversations for Geotab to participate in via social media channels.
  • Conduct ongoing competitive analysis and benchmarking to inform Strategic Communications social media strategy.
  • Collaborate with the broader marketing and digital team to support campaign execution where appropriate.
  • Educate and coach department and on social media best practices including feedback and advice on performance of content and storytelling.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Social Media, Marketing, Communications, Media
  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma specialization in Strategic Communications, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
  • Strong strategic and editorial skills with a knack for storytelling
  • Collaborator and relationship builder - has the ability to develop a strong understanding and desire to do what’s best for the team and Geotab’s business objectives.
  • An entrepreneurial proactive spirit - taking News and Views from start up, identifying new opportunities, ways of doing things and making it happen.
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of specialized requirements related to writing social and digital content.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to identity useful insights and make fact-based decisions, recommendations and changes
  • Growth mindset and a passion for learning
  • Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of media and digital landscape, best practices and ways to increase engagement and inspire audiences, including familiarity with SEO tools.
  • Proficiency in social media analytics, use and development of dashboards and platform-specific digital specs
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Analytics, Adobe Photoshop and social listening tools is an asset.
