Who you are:
We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Privacy Specialist who will be responsible for supporting the operationalization of the Privacy Program throughout the organization. What you’ll do:
As a Privacy Specialist you will be responsible for serving as a privacy subject matter expert and conducting privacy impact assessments to identify risk and remediation activities. You will be supporting various business teams through the design of processes to ensure compliance with privacy regulations globally. You will need to work closely with Geotab’s Legal and Security teams, along with building relationships with key business stakeholders.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Administer, implement and ensure compliance to data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Privacy Operational compliance and provide insight and guidance to employees and/or customers.
  • Liaise with Legal, Security, Operations and Application Development teams across the enterprise to identify areas of risk regarding privacy, develop solutions and drive to completion.
  • Assess privacy impact of solutions/programs being delivered by the department.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments to evaluate the impact of data processing activities and provide recommendations for mitigating risks.
  • Liaise with the appropriate owners of data sources to identify and resolve data privacy issues.
  • Contribute to Geotab's thought leadership in the data privacy, data ethics, and governance space.
  • Strong understanding around the importance of data privacy and how to ensure that it remains safe.
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and create better processes.
  • Remain current on the latest trends and best practices for data privacy.
  • Lead all project and report phases.
  • Assist with other team projects/tasks as needed.
  • Assist employees with questions and guide them on departmental processes.
  • Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to Geotab's thought leadership in the data privacy, data ethics, and governance space.
  • Strong understanding around the importance of data privacy and how to ensure that it remains safe.

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • 3-5 years experience working as a Privacy Specialist, or a similar role.
  • Deep understanding of data privacy principles, regulations, and best practices.
  • Prior experience working in a highly technical environment.
  • Experience working with Privacy legislation - specifically, PIPEDA, and GDPR.
  • High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Highly organized, self driven and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Drawings, Slides).
  • Experience with creating data and process flow diagrams.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in information management, data science, law, privacy or related field.
  • Professional Certification in IAPP Data Privacy designation preferred.
