Geotab is seeking a Manager, Facilities (Contract) who is accountable to oversee all building operations that are well maintained, neat, safe, productive and run efficiently for all of our Geotab locations. You ensure that the building and its services meet the needs of the staff and align with corporate location strategy. What you’ll do:
As a Manager, Facilities (Contract) your key area of responsibility will be to manage a team which is spread out over multiple locations and be responsible for the regular scheduling and coordinating of office maintenance and services. The Manager, Facilities ensures efficient and cost-effective operations including all utilities and upkeep contracts. You will need to work closely with Geotab’s Production, Operations, and Security teams, as well as communicate with external vendors and suppliers. To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills to work with all levels of the organisation and external vendors. You will also possess strong organisational and analytical skills with the ability to problem solve to well-judged decisions. In addition, the successful candidate will have knowledge in maintenance trades and an understanding of overall building maintenance and systems.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Collaborate with space planning and design teams to optimize office layouts for efficiency and employee satisfaction. Plans for expansions, reconfigurations, manages new furniture installations and relocations as needed.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers. Negotiate contracts, review service level agreements, and monitor performance to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire drills for various locations.
  • Stay up to date on relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure that the office buildings meet safety, accessibility, and environmental requirements. Implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
  • Supervise execution of all preventative maintenance tasks as prescribed on all equipment and systems.
  • Ensure the proper Inspection of building’s structures to determine repairs or renovations.
  • Respond to emergency calls regarding after business hours.
  • Function is responsible for active participation in the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC.) Ensure all proper health and safety and maintenance documentation is up to date.
  • Ensure all health, safety and security procedures are adhered to and areas of concern are reported to the appropriate parties in a timely manner in order to limit exposure to liability and loss.
  • Support Geotab’s Green strategy and implement and monitor this program internally and motivating staff to participate.
  • Provide expert project leadership and guidance to the team as SME.
  • Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports:
  • Provide direction, coaching and mentorship to the team.
  • Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth and training opportunities.
  • Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs and career development planning.
  • Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing a facility, with maintenance responsibilities.
  • 1-3 years of leadership experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to work with all levels internally and external suppliers.
  • Previous Project management skills; able to identify needs, develop effective solutions and manage projects through to completion in a facilities capacity
  • Knowledgeable in maintenance trades and an understanding of overall building maintenance and systems.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve to well-judged decisions.
  • Strategic mindset, has a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes.
  • Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
