Who you are:
We are looking for a Java Senior Developer passionate about technology, always pursuing high quality coding standards and interested in continuous learning. At Geotab, you will also have the opportunity to work fully remote based in Spain.
What you'll do:
You will be part of the development team responsible for developing a fleet management platform. The back-end consists of processing, storage, data analysis, internal & external API, connectors. The front-end is a single page application developed with Java and transpiled to JavaScript, allowing us to have a specialized Java team able to share code between client and server sides. The client-side includes real-time visualization, maps, charts, and more interactive elements to monitor and analyze fleets.
We work with the latest Java version to develop our own frameworks, create and maintain complex state machines and establish communication with both internal and external systems. Our focus on continuous improvement and code quality is always present, being a very important part of the work as well as the reuse and unification of utilities / libraries.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable code to develop high throughput, performance critical, scalable applications.
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Perform Test Driven Development (TDD) by doing peer reviews, ensuring coding standards are followed, looking for logic errors and other bugs.
  • Conduct code reviews and mentor junior team members.
  • Provide proactive technical support to resellers, internal staff and customers.

What you'll bring to this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years experience in software development with Java.
  • Experience working with C#/.NET is an asset.
  • Experience with Java back-end (RxJava, Servlets, Guice) and front-end (JavaFX, GWT or Dagger) technologies, as well as reactive libraries like ReactiveX.
  • Previous experience with other Java frameworks such as Spring, Swing, JavaFX, JEE… will be a plus.
  • General knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 or ES6.
  • Experience agile methodologies (design, development, testing and code review).
  • Experience in OOP architectures (DI, MVP) and FP code.
  • Managing code in Git and being comfortable with pull request code reviews.
  • Experience with responsive layout design an asset.
  • Knowledge of data visualization, maps (GIS) an asset.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.
