Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, the Manager, People & Culture will be a key member of the People & Culture (P&C) team, contributing to strategic and hands-on initiatives that support General Fusion’s purpose-driven culture and mission to transform the world’s energy supply with fusion energy. The Manager, P&C will serve as a trusted partner to leaders across the organization, with a strong focus on talent acquisition, employee engagement, and culture development. The ideal candidate is a passionate people champion with the ability to balance the needs of the organization with the needs of individuals, who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and brings expertise in driving P&C programs that enhance the employee experience, support leadership, and foster a high-performing culture.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment, partnering closely with hiring managers to attract top talent across technical and corporate functions
  • Develop, plan and execute creative strategies to build diverse talent pipelines and enhance employer brand
  • Manage recruitment platforms, metrics, and processes to support scale and candidate experience

P&C Business Partnership

  • Be a trusted advisor to leaders and managers, providing coaching and guidance on short and long-term business needs, employee relations, performance management, team dynamics, and organizational effectiveness
  • Support the roll-out of P&C initiatives and programs, ensuring alignment with corporate and team goals
  • Use HR metrics and analytics to support decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Play a key role in shaping and nurturing a purpose-driven, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture
  • Lead initiatives that enhance employee engagement, connection, and well-being
  • Act as a culture ambassador, ensuring our values are reflected in the employee experience
  • Partner with leaders to foster a positive and collaborative work environment that supports employee engagement, career growth and development, retention, and performance
  • Bring a learning mindset that enables the design and delivery of development programs that support employee growth
  • Collaborate with teams to identify skill gaps and create strategies to address them
  • Ensure processes, policies and programs reflect best practice, GF culture and employment legislation and integrate into the work we do in a streamlined and effective manner

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field
  • 5 - 7 years of progressive HR experience, including as an HR/P&C Business Partner (preferably in the technology sector)
  • Proven experience in full-cycle talent acquisition (including hard-to-fill technical positions) with a passion for recruiting and building diverse and inclusive teams
  • Demonstrated experience navigating the Canadian immigration process
  • Strong coaching capabilities, including experience coaching leaders and employees on performance, career development, and organizational change
  • Sound business acumen with the ability to support individual, team, and organizational success
  • Proven project, change management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use people data, metrics, and insights to inform decisions and drive organizational effectiveness
  • Deep understanding of employee engagement and culture-building strategies in complex and dynamic organizations
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset
  • Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices

You may also bring:

  • Hands-on experience leading the implementation of an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), from needs analysis and vendor selection through configuration, launch, and adoption
  • Solid experience in compensation and total rewards, including facilitation and program delivery
  • Experience designing or supporting learning and development initiatives
  • Global or cross-cultural People & Culture experience

The typical hiring range for this position is $115,000 - $130,000. General Fusion considers several factors when determining total compensation, including job-specific or highly specialized knowledge, skills, and experience, proficiency, job location, and internal equity.
