Job description:
As a Product Engineer, you will analyze the probe/final data using data analysis techniques to find potentially bad products before shipping to the customers. This includes designing new test plan for the new products and analyze the existing ones using existing screening methods or provide innovative ideas to find out root cause of any problem in manufacturing process. You will interact with design/operations/Fabs to support continuous yield improvements in GaN System’s products.
You will develop screening techniques, procedures, and capabilities to further enhance the product’s yield in addition to meet the qualification requirements. It is part of your job to bring innovative ideas to reduce production costs by changing the screening methods. As a Product Engineer, you will be part of the production group, performing product related issues of GaN Systems products and dealing with customers.
Responsibilities:
- Analysis of new product performance prior to production release
- Provide detailed status reports at each phase, test limit (guard band), correlation and yield summary reports
- Analyze the probe test/ final test data
- Analysis and disposition of maverick material (MPE)
- Perform product yield enhancement
- Develop and implement test plans and procedures for power transistors to ensure they meet quality and reliability standards.
- Root cause investigation of low yield through systematic analysis
- Support other engineering groups with NPI
- Change control for products in production
- Driving cost reduction activities such as reduction of screening, yield improvement, test time reduction, etc
- Work with reliability and quality team for analysis of RMA customer returns
- Responsible for having close interaction with Product Test Engineering team and communicate technical product status to management
- Responsible for following up with Foundries and test subcontractors/test houses to resolve all production issues
- Providing product development support which involves interfacing with design, test engineering, quality engineering and others
- Contribute to project plans by providing time-scale estimates
- Manage own time and assigned resources to meet timescales and quality objective
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Sc./M.Sc. in electrical engineering or a related discipline, with 2+ years of experience in a semiconductor company
- Detailed understanding of semiconductor product life cycle from post silicon bring up, device characterization, qualification, pre-production support, release to volume production and product sustenance
- Semiconductor technology and process knowledge
- Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication process
- Proficient in at least one statistical analysis tool (JMP, spotfire, Vidas etc)
- Strong data analytical skills in evaluation of power semiconductors
- Experience working with GaN or other compound semiconductor devices strongly desired
- Understanding of statistical analysis techniques (SPC, CPK, CPU, CPL, etc)
- Strong test development skills along with the ability to define hardware/ software needs for debug is a plus
- Experience in python programming is a plus
- Ability to work well in cross functional teams in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and pay close attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently
