The Preclinical Scientist reports to the Director of Preclinical Studies and provides support in in vitro and in vivo preclinical studies, data tabulation, data analysis, quality control and reporting. The ideal candidate is an organized individual with high attention to detail who quickly absorbs and adapts to the current business needs, willingly seeks out additions to his/her “tool kit”, and delights in overcoming barriers and finding creative solutions to complex problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Following established procedures, assist in and document animal and in vitro experiments.
- Perform histological processing and slide analysis/microscopy.
- Prepare animal surgical kits, including cleaning and sterilization.
- Assist engineering staff in image processing as required.
- Assist with report preparation.
- Perform product and data quality control.
- Manage solution changeovers for in-process studies.
- Assist with other product development and commercialization activities as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor or Master of Science in biology, biochemistry, or similar from an accredited university
- Hands-on experience with basic laboratory and animal procedures preferred
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) is a plus
- Strong technical writing skills to complete documentation in timely fashion
- Competence with MS Office suite software
Additional Skills:
· Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal relationship skills
· Ability to adhere to Quality Management Systems requirements (ISO 13485)
· Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
This is an on-site position (not remote). Candidate will work in Calgary AB and be legally entitled to work in Canada. Candidate should have a valid driver’s license and automobile for work-related travel within Calgary.
