FloPatch is the world’s first wireless Doppler ultrasound system, designed to optimize clinical management in acute care settings. This wearable device empowers clinicians with real-time data, enabling precise fluid management in critically ill patients, such as those with sepsis and septic shock.
The Mechatronics Engineer will be a crucial addition to our expanding team. The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting root cause analysis (RCA) on devices returned from the field, as well as addressing non-conforming material (NCM) identified during production. Our ideal team member is passionate about ensuring product quality and has a strong sense of teamwork. They will contribute to minimizing downtime, driving continuous improvement in production processes, and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards. We are looking for someone eager to apply their mechatronics expertise to enhance efficiency and product reliability, ultimately improving patient outcomes through innovative engineering solutions.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct detailed root cause analysis for returned devices from the field to identify issues and recommend corrective actions
- Investigate non-conforming material (NCM) from production, determining the root cause and liaising with the quality and production teams to implement fixes
- Develop and maintain thorough documentation of investigations, findings, and resolutions
- Assist with the preparation and execution of electrical, firmware, and system-level experiments to validate and troubleshoot devices
- Conduct technical measurements during experiments and summarize findings in concise, clear reports
- Develop and automate system test procedures to streamline validation and troubleshooting processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including quality assurance, production, and design engineers) to ensure issues are effectively addressed and closed
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and explore new ideas for design updates and enhancements to proactively prevent reoccurrence of device failures
- Assist in testing and validating corrective actions implemented on products to ensure proper functioning and compliance with standards
- Provide technical support during the manufacturing process for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical subsystems
- Contribute to engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness in design, testing, and production records
- Support the engineering team with various ongoing tasks as required

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent field)
- 2+ years of experience in a relevant engineering role, preferably in product testing, quality assurance, or production environments
- Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, or similar)
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, sensors, and control systems
- Experience working with troubleshooting and diagnostic tools is an asset
- Strong communication skills for reporting findings and working within cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with quality management systems and production environments is an advantage
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Matlab, or similar)
- Experience with embedded programming (C)
- Comfortable with electrical measurements using laboratory equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, signal generator, soldering iron)
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills
Nice to have:
- Experience with PCB design or verification tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD) to assist in diagnosing electrical failures
- Familiarity with mechanical design software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for investigating mechanical issues or suggesting design improvements
- Basic understanding of firmware and embedded systems to support system-level integration
