We’re looking for our next Senior Manager, Reconciliation, Payments, & Controls. Could It Be You?
The Senior Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Bank’s payment reconciliation, lending operations, and financial control environment.
This role is responsible for the integrity of financial movements, departmental budget management, and the long-term modernization of operational workflows.
The Senior Manager acts as the primary authority on risk mitigation, ensuring all activities comply with regulatory standards while leading a high-performing team of Specialists and SMEs.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Strategic Controls & Risk Governance
- Control Framework Design: Design and authorize the first-line-of-defense control framework to mitigate financial loss, fraud, and operational errors across all payment rails.
- Audit Ownership: Serve as the lead point of contact for internal/external audits and regulatory examinations (e.g., OSFI, FINTRAC), ensuring strict compliance and zero material findings.
- KPI & Trend Analysis: Review and interpret reconciliation KPIs and aging trends to identify emerging operational risk exposures.
- Policy Enforcement: Establish and enforce departmental policies regarding financial cut-offs, exception handling, and General Ledger (GL) integrity.
Process Optimization & Strategic Projects
- Automation Leadership: Identify and champion automation opportunities to eliminate manual reconciliation tasks.
- Strategic Initiatives: Support the launch of new products and payment integrations by defining the operational and control requirements for Technology and Product teams.
- Documentation Governance: Oversee the creation and maintenance of comprehensive operational procedures, technical documentation, and control maps for the department.
Operational Oversight & Escalation
- High-Risk Resolution: Act as the final decision-maker for high-value or high-risk financial discrepancies and aged unmatched transactions.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Manage primary relationships with external banking partners, payment processors, and network providers.
- Incident Management: Lead the response to operational incidents, directing root-cause investigations and approving post-mortem action plans.
- Stakeholder Management: Partner with finance teams and executives to ensure appropriate escalation paths and controls are established.
Leadership & Financial Integrity
- Team Development: Oversee the professional development, coaching, and performance management of the operations and SME teams.
- Sub-Ledger Integrity: Validate the accounting flows and integrity between loan servicing sub-ledgers and the General Ledger.

Bachelor’s Degree: Required in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
Add Value: Post-Graduate/Designation: MBA, CPA, or CFA designation is highly preferred for this level of financial and control oversight.
Total Professional Experience: Minimum of 12–15+ years of progressive experience in banking operations, payments, or loan servicing.
Leadership Tenure: At least 7+ years in a senior management or departmental leadership role within a complex financial institution.
Reconciliation & Control Mastery: Extensive background (10+ years) specifically in high-volume reconciliation, general ledger management, and financial control design.
Audit & Regulatory Record: Proven track record of successfully leading teams through multiple cycles of internal/external audits and federal regulatory reviews.
Project Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading large-scale system migrations or automation projects (e.g., implementing ISO 20022 or real-time payment rails).
Bilingualism (Highly recommended): English and French to lead national teams and manage diverse partner relationships.
Compensation Information:
- Base salary range: $145,000 - $170,000
- The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
