We’re looking for our next Reconciliation Analyst. Could It Be You?

The Reconciliation Analyst is responsible for overseeing complex reconciliations, resolving high-risk financial discrepancies, and supporting operational stability across payments and mortgage servicing activities.

This role acts as a critical escalation point for operational teams and partners closely with Finance, Technology, Treasury, and Product teams to improve processes and reduce financial risk. The Reconciliation Analyst is expected to provide expert-level guidance on accounting treatments and lead the charge in operational modernization.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Complex Reconciliation & Financial Integrity

  • Oversight: Review and approve daily reconciliation results across all payment rails (EFT/ACH, wires, card settlements) and loan servicing systems to ensure accuracy before final reporting.
  • Root Cause Investigation: Investigate complex, high-risk, or aged "breaks" and perform deep-dive analysis to determine the ultimate root cause.
  • Ledger Management: Ensure absolute integrity between mortgage sub-ledgers and the general ledger (GL), maintaining a clear audit trail.
  • Exposure Monitoring: Monitor settlement exposures and operational imbalances to proactively identify potential liquidity or financial risks.

Subject Matter Expertise & Escalation Support

  • Technical Escalation: Act as the final escalation point for the first-line operational teams when resolving unmatched or suspended transactions.
  • Accounting Guidance: Provide expert guidance on the correct accounting treatment for complex adjustments, corrections, and payouts.
  • Partner Coordination: Lead the coordination and resolution of systemic issues with external banking partners and payment processors.
  • Incident Management: Support operational incident management, including the documentation of post-mortems and the implementation of corrective actions.

Advanced Mortgage & Lending Expertise

  • Transaction Validation: Validate complex borrower transactions, including large prepayments, penalty assessments, and payout figures.
  • System Oversight: Oversee the continuous reconciliation between loan servicing platforms and the GL to prevent data drift.
  • Audit & Regulatory Lead: Serve as the primary technical contact for regulatory and audit inquiries, ensuring all supporting documentation is accurate and compliant.

Controls & Risk Governance

  • Internal Controls: Proactively identify operational risk exposures and recommend improvements to strengthen internal monitoring.
  • Performance Analysis: Review reconciliation KPIs and trends to identify performance gaps or emerging financial risks.

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in banking operations, payments processing, or loan servicing.
  • Education: * Bachelor’s Degree: Required in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • College Diploma: Candidates with a diploma must demonstrate 7–8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Technical Mastery: Advanced Excel skills and data analysis capabilities, including a deep understanding of accounting flows and the settlement lifecycle.
  • Audit Readiness: Proven experience supporting complex internal/external audits or regulatory reviews.
  • Bilingualism (Asset): Strong professional proficiency in both English and French to support national partners and diverse communication needs.

Compensation Information:

  • Base salary range: $65,000 - $85,000
  • The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
