We’re looking for our next Senior Manager, Corporate Actions & Income. Could It Be You?
The Senior Manager, Corporate Actions & Income is responsible for operational integrity and the strategic oversight of the Corporate Actions & Income team. This role ensures that all mandatory and voluntary corporate actions, dividend payments, and interest distributions are executed with absolute accuracy and within strict regulatory and market deadlines.
Reporting to the Director of Brokerage Operations, you will lead a department responsible for the end-to-end processing of corporate action events across all markets, as well as dividends, redemptions, proxies, and reorganization events. You will manage a team of Supervisors who oversee the day-to-day of processing, reconciliation, and research. Additionally, you will direct Middle Office specialists who act as the vital strategic bridge between back-office engines and client-facing teams. Your mission is to evolve manual workflows into scalable, automated processes while maintaining a culture of rigorous risk control and "zero-error" tolerance. You will actively monitor service quality to mitigate risk, ensure maximum customer value, and maintain Questrade's reputation for Operational Excellence.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operational Leadership & Team Management
- Provide leadership to a multi-tiered team, including Supervisors (who oversee Processing, Research, and Reconciliation) and Middle Office specialists (who intake client instructions, mitigate market risk by ensuring deadline integrity, and act as the final point of escalation for complex queries).
- Define KPIs, SLAs and controls for event announcement, instruction processing, and payment distribution.
- Oversee workforce planning, capacity management, and professional development for Analysts, Senior Analyst, and Middle Office specialists.
- Collaborate with the Operational Excellence team to create and implement a robust learning and development framework that enables swift onboarding of employees and ensures continuous up/cross skilling of staff.
- Think strategically about the team’s capacity, productivity, and processes in view of proactively managing the team’s operating expenses.
- Oversee daily BPO performance against key metrics for outsourced functions and strictly enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Identify performance gaps and conduct root-cause analysis to implement corrective action for any missed targets.
- Act as a bridge between execution and strategy; to translate strategy into actions.
- Act as a subject matter expertise on projects requiring Corporate Action, Dividend, and Reorganization input.
Risk, Controls & Deadline Integrity
- Own the "instruction window" for voluntary events (e.g., Tender Offers, Rights Issues), ensuring successful capture and validation of all client elections before market or custodian cut-offs.
- Monitor "Short Positions" and "Pending Trades" to ensure the firm is not over-extended or liable for unclaimable dividends during event windows.
- Act as the final internal escalation point for complex reorganizations, bankruptcies, and high-value dividend claims.
- Monitor control accounts on a daily basis, ensure discrepancies are resolved urgently and accurately.
Middle Office & Client Instructions
- Empower your team to translate complex technical event data into clear, actionable communications for client-facing teams and high-net-worth clients.
- Ensure your team effectively mitigates market risk by validating the integrity of incoming client instructions.
- Ensure your team effectively monitors and prioritizes the Corporate Actions ticketing queue, ensuring all client instructions (tender offers, distribution, dividends, elections, rights offerings, proxy, consent offers, etc.) are validated and passed to the Back Office before market deadlines.
- Expect your team to identify and flag high-risk "at-risk" instructions to prevent missed deadlines or erroneous elections that could lead to significant firm or client loss.
Operational Efficiency & Transformation
- Continuously seek to identify inefficiencies in view of increasing productivity, reducing risk, and improving processes.
- Own and maintain a backlog of opportunities, effectively prioritizing and packaging strategic initiatives and preparing comprehensive business cases.
- Champion automation & technology integration to streamline operations, reduce manual tasks, and increase scalability.
- Collaborate with Front-office, Product, and CX teams to streamline cross-departmental processes and implement redesigned workflows that focus on customer service and a best-in-class experience.
- Contribute to Business Testing and Release Readiness, for seamless and effective integration, release, and operation of new or enhanced processes, products and technologies.
- Champion a long-term vision for deep AI integration and adoption.
Third Parties
- Manage relationships with key depositories, custodians, transfer agents, data providers, and third parties (CDS, DTCC, Apex, Bloomberg, and Broadridge).
- Participate in external and internal audits.
So are YOU our next Senior Manager, Corporate Actions & Income? You are if you…
- Have 8+ years in Securities Operations, with at least 5 years in a related role, and 4 years in a leadership/management capacity.
- Have a mastery of the corporate action lifecycle (Announcement, Instruction, Reconciliation, Payment).
- Have experience with Broadridge and depository interfaces preferred (CDSX, DTCC, APEX, BNP).
- Have a university degree in Finance, Economics, or Business. Master’s degree or advanced certifications (e.g. CFA) preferred.
- Have exceptional "grace under pressure" mindset; ability to make high-stakes decisions within minutes of market close.
- Have experience working in client-facing execution or market operation roles is a plus.
- Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with extraordinary attention to detail and verbal reasoning skills.
- Have the ability to "de-jargonize" complex financial events for clients and support agents who may not have a technical operations background.
- Are creative and adaptable and continually evolving your approach.
- Are an enthusiastic team player and demonstrate an infectious positive attitude.
- Have advanced Excel or Google sheets skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) to reconcile instruction lists against custody positions.
- Have experience using Broadridge’s BPS, NewDiv, CAIP, ASTRID or TCS.
Compensation Information:
- Base salary range: $135,000 - $145,000
- The final compensation package will be commensurated with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
