We’re looking for our next Manager, Merchant Engagement Strategy. Could It Be You?

The Manager, Merchant Engagement Strategy serves as the vital link between Flexiti and its valued merchant partners. This role is responsible for cultivating strong, mutually beneficial relationships, ensuring our partners' success fuels Flexiti’s growth. You'll achieve this by deeply understanding merchant needs and strategically aligning them with our business objectives to expand our market reach and achieve our strategic goals.

As the Manager, Merchant Engagement Strategy, you'll be a key driver in managing and nurturing relationships with Flexiti's merchant partners. You'll act as the primary point of contact, taking the lead on regular partner engagements to thoroughly understand their unique business challenges and opportunities. Your core responsibility will be to identify merchant needs, strategically balance them with Flexiti's business goals, and then translate these insights into actionable strategies. This will involve close collaboration with Flexiti’s marketing team to align on initiatives, assess capacity for new projects, and effectively prioritize work to drive successful outcomes for both our partners and Flexiti.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Lead Partner Engagements:

  • Initiate, prepare for, and lead regular calls and meetings with Flexiti's partners, serving as the main point of contact for all strategic and operational discussions.
  • Actively listen to and thoroughly understand merchant pain points, business objectives, and growth opportunities.
  • Clearly articulate Flexiti's value proposition, new product offerings, and strategic direction to partners.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders within partner organizations.


Strategic Needs Assessment & Alignment:

  • Proactively identify and assess the specific needs and challenges of merchants, leveraging insights gained from partner calls and market analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop tailored solutions and strategies that balances merchant needs with Flexiti’s overarching business goals.
  • Support new merchant onboarding by identifying and implementing innovative marketing strategies to generate awareness and drive engagement with newly onboarded merchants.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitive landscapes to anticipate partner and merchant needs.

Marketing Collaboration & Project Prioritization:

  • Work closely with the marketing team to align on merchant marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Clearly communicate partner feedback and merchant needs to the marketing team to inform content development, campaign execution, and promotional efforts.
  • Assess marketing team capacity in relation to upcoming partner initiatives and merchant requests.
  • Accurately document and raise detailed tickets to the marketing team for new projects, campaign support, and content creation, ensuring all necessary information is provided for prioritization
  • Proactively follow up on marketing initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with partner expectations.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Track and report on key performance indicators related to partner engagement, merchant satisfaction, and the success of joint initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders on partner status, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Identify areas for improvement in partner processes and communication.

  • Have 3-5 years of marketing campaign experience, such as partnership marketing and/or targeted marketing, preferably within a retail or financial services industry.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a partner-facing role, such as account management, partner management, business development, or a similar capacity.
  • Have a proven track record of successfully building and managing partner relationships and driving mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Have demonstrated experience in identifying client/customer needs and translating them into actionable strategies or solutions.
  • Have superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences including internal and external stakeholders. Strong active listening skills.
  • Have strong analytical skills with the ability to identify core problems, gather relevant information, evaluate options, and propose effective solutions.
  • Have demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Product, Operations) to achieve shared goals.
  • Are self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to take initiative in identifying opportunities and addressing challenges.
  • Have excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have meticulous attention to detail, particularly when assessing needs, documenting requirements, and raising tickets.
  • Have the ability to adapt to changing priorities, market conditions, and business needs.
