We’re looking for our next Manager Paid Media. Could It Be You?

As the Manager, Paid Media, you will be a critical leader in driving new customer acquisition for Questrade. This unique hybrid role requires a strategic thinker with deep, hands-on expertise in media activation. You will be responsible for developing our full-funnel media strategy while also overseeing execution internally, and through our external media agency partner. The ideal candidate is a data-driven expert who can craft a compelling strategic vision, provide sophisticated guidance to agency partners, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves to ensure flawless execution and drive performance.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Holistic Media Strategy & Agency Oversight:

  • Develop and own the integrated media strategy across all paid channels (SEM, Programmatic, Paid Social, App Store, etc.) to achieve ambitious customer acquisition goals (CPL, CPA, ROAS).
  • Serve as the primary strategic partner and day-to-day contact for our media agency, preparing insightful briefs and guiding their campaign optimization efforts to ensure strategic alignment and executional excellence.
  • Synthesize the product roadmap, competitive landscape, and seasonality to strategically flight investment, channel mix, and messaging throughout the year.

Performance Analysis & Storytelling:

  • Leverage strong data literacy to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable insights from campaign performance and market data.
  • Develop and deliver timely, insightful reports that tell a clear business story to stakeholders from director to C-suite, linking media performance to incremental acquisition growth.
  • Champion the adoption of marketing effectiveness principles, data-driven planning, and a relentless testing agenda.

Technical Operations & Growth:

  • Maintain accountability for the entire media activation ecosystem, inclusive of buying platforms, our ad server (Campaign Manager 360), and analytics platforms to ensure data integrity and accurate reporting.
  • Lead the strategic implementation of technical marketing projects (e.g., CAPI, conversion event hygiene) in partnership with our agency and internal analytics teams.
  • Identify, research, and build business cases for new channels, partners, and audience segments to expand acquisition volume and efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management:

  • Serve as a key strategic partner to internal stakeholders including Web, SEO, CRO, Analytics, Product, and Business Leadership, and produce thoughtful plans which maximize effectiveness for the broader Growth Marketing function
  • Lead the day-to-day management of cross-channel projects and documents (e.g., Budget Control Reports, Blocking Charts, Forecasting) and ensure smooth media operations

So are YOU our next Manager Paid Media? You are if you…

  • Have 6-8 years of experience in paid media, with a demonstrated track record in both strategic, holistic media planning and hands-on campaign activation.
  • Have successfully scaled 7-figure+ ad accounts while maintaining efficiency and growth
  • Possess hands-on expertise with a wide range of media platforms (Google Ads, Meta, DV360, etc.) and have the technical ability to personally traffic, set up, and troubleshoot campaigns as required and for effective agency oversight.
  • Have proven experience developing insightful briefs and managing media agencies or media activation specialists to drive performance.
  • Have strong data literacy with a demonstrated ability to synthesize insights from various data sources into actionable opportunities and compelling business narratives.
  • Are proficient with the modern Martech landscape, including ad servers (CM360), analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Amplitude), and attribution models.
  • Are proficient with advanced measurement methodologies such as Marketing Mix Modelling (MMM), Multi-Touch Attribution (MTA) and incrementality testing, as well as providers such as Haus, Northbeam, and Rockerbox
  • Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to write and present clear, compelling strategic plans and performance reports to align various stakeholders.
  • Have a deep-seated obsession with testing, learning, and optimizing for performance and efficiency in a fast-paced, performance-centric environment.

  • Have working familiarity with other areas of Growth Marketing such as CRO, Organic Media, SEO, and Creative optimizations
  • Have a strong aptitude for and curiosity about leveraging AI and automation to improve systems and processes.
  • Have experience working in a start-up environment, embracing a scrappy and resourceful mindset
  • Have experience with ad creation and analysis platforms like Motion, Atria, Canva, and Figma
  • Are familiar with offline media channels and their synergies with digital media.
