The Privacy Lead, Advisory Services will assist Questrade Financial Group Inc. with embedding privacy into its products and services, using a privacy-by-design and enablement-first approach, and overall management of the privacy program.
The Privacy Lead, Advisory Services leads the provision of privacy advisory services to Questrade Financial Group companies and supports the day-to-day operation of the Privacy Office.

As a member of our talented and high-performing Privacy team, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead the provision of advisory services and manage the organization’s operational privacy risks by conducting privacy impact assessments and delivering ad hoc strategic advice to business stakeholders;
- Provide advice, guidance and support on strategic initiatives, IT, data governance, data quality management, AI and other technology matters;
- Support the management of the day-to-day operations and develop and implement net new projects to mature Questrade’s Privacy Program, using AI and other technology tools to streamline efficiency;
- Support the review of existing policies, standards, and procedures to ensure continued compliance with privacy requirements;
- Support responses to incident management and regulatory requests;
- Support privacy training, communication, and awareness programs to promote a culture of privacy throughout the organization;
- Support privacy reporting to various stakeholders and leadership;
- Draft, review and negotiate privacy and data protection terms in a broad range of commercial agreements; and
- Remain up to date with applicable privacy and data security laws, regulations and trends.
The Privacy Lead, Advisory Services is expected to:
- Be well-versed in Canadian privacy laws and regulatory guidance;
- Be familiar with corporate/commercial law;
- Be familiar with cybersecurity principles/best practices;
- Have the ability to grasp complex and ambiguous problems and distill them into clear, understandable terms and requirements;
- Exercise sound judgement to independently manage challenges and know when to escalate issues for support and resolution;
- Be committed to finding and implementing efficiencies using AI and other technology;
- Establish positive relationships with internal clients in other business units;
- Work cooperatively with multiple departments;
- Own and complete of all tasks as assigned;
- Provide training and supervision to new staff and/or co-op students assigned to the Privacy team; and
- Exhibit the highest level of ethics, accountability and professionalism in all aspects of the job.
So are YOU our next Privacy Lead, Advisory Services? You are if you…
- Have 3+ years of relevant privacy experience (experience in the financial/fintech sectors considered an asset);
- Have a University degree in Law (JD considered an asset), Business, Risk Management, or a related field;
- Have the CIPP/C, CIPM, or equivalent privacy certification is strongly preferred;
- Have excellent communication and drafting skills;
- Have a deep understanding of Canadian private sector privacy laws (PIPEDA, Law 25, BC & AB PIPA)
- Have the ability to manage multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment;
- Have sound legal and business judgment to provide practical solutions to complex privacy and data access issues;
- Have highly developed negotiation skills and the ability to quickly get to the key issues and present persuasive positions;
- Have proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders; and
- Have a demonstrated leadership style and work behaviors that align with our core cultural values.
