About the role

As a Senior QA Specialist, you will bring hands-on contributions to the Centah (www.centah.com) product teams with the use of automation, software engineering, and up to date test practices.

You will provide Software Quality support to our product team by performing manual testing and also automating the build-test-deploy lifecycle for a wide variety of services when needed.

We are an agile organization; our teams regularly use pairing techniques, giving you exposure to the full code base. You will work as part of an agile team that brings together Developers, DevOps, QA, and Product Management.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with product teams to integrate test scenarios during backlog refinement and sprint planning.
  • Approach test scenarios from a customer-centric perspective, emphasizing positive/negative outcomes and user intent.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests using Ruby and other relevant tools, minimizing redundancy.
  • Partner with developers to implement tests across various levels and contribute to the entire codebase.
  • Champion and mentor peers in QA best practices, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Gather input from stakeholders to enhance test scenarios and align with business needs.
  • Participate in establishing CI/CD pipelines for new products and ensure pipeline monitoring.
  • Perform exploratory testing to enrich the automation test suite and detect potential improvements.
  • Log defects through JIRA and provide support to operational teams for production systems.
  • Create and maintain integration, end-to-end, and regression test suites.
  • Execute vulnerability assessments, identify risks, and report vulnerabilities beyond automated tools.
  • Review and address false positives, enhancing the accuracy of vulnerability assessments.
  • Contribute to process improvements, offer mentorship, and stay updated on security trends.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Manual QA Specialist
  • 1+ years of experience with automation testing
  • Computer Science fundamentals in OO design, data structure and algorithm
  • Practical knowledge of the OWASP Testing Guide
  • Exposure to working with development tools supporting Continuous Deployment: GIT, Jenkins, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Your GIT experience extends beyond ‘push/pull’; you should be comfortable troubleshooting and handling conflicts.
  • You feel at home on the Linux command line. Though you will not focus your efforts on bash scripting none of the following should make you uncomfortable: ‘vi’, ‘awk’, ‘sed’
  • Demonstrable experience creating and designing tests using REST APIs (e.g. Postman)
  • Familiarity and understanding of Agile SDLC
  • Complete comfort working with Atlassian toolset (e.g. JIRA)
  • You are comfortable with a variety of test automation frameworks RSpec, Cucumber, pytest, junit, Puppeteer, etc.
