Position Summary

This is an entry-level internship role for summer 2026. The Contracts Intern will support a contract review initiative by reviewing and validating information extracted from customer contracts, identifying errors or omissions, and organizing contract-related records. The intern will also help improve the structure and consistency of contract files so they are easier to navigate and maintain.

This role will contribute to a better understanding of company pricing, billing arrangements, and legal deviations, while helping prepare the business for a more efficient contract management approach. Work is overseen by department leadership and requires strong attention to detail and a willingness to work carefully through complex documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Contract review and validation

  • Review contract data extracted through internal review processes and verify customer billing arrangements and significant deviations from Detechtion’s standard legal position
  • Assist in completing contract profiles for individual customer contracts
  • Help prepare customer-level summaries that account for all active contracts with each customer
  • Support creation of an overall contract profile that provides visibility into pricing, billing, and legal deviations

Document organization and records management

  • Help update and organize customer contract folders using consistent naming and filing conventions
  • Archive expired contracts and inactive customer records according to team guidance
  • Improve the structure and usability of contract files for easier internal reference
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of completed reviews and updates

Team coordination and quality

  • Communicate findings, concerns, and trends to department leadership
  • Follow documentation standards and review procedures carefully
  • Support knowledge transfer and process improvement through clear recordkeeping

Qualifications

Education

  • Currently enrolled in a Legal Studies, Law, Business, or related post-secondary program.
  • Completed second year of studies
  • Enrolled in or completed commercial/business modules concerning corporate law, contracts law, business law, international business law, intellectual property.

Technical Skills & Specialized Knowledge

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and comfort working with large volumes of documentation
  • Ability to review information carefully and identify inconsistencies
  • Strong organizational and file management skills
  • Experience working with contracts, legal documents, or records management is an asset
