About the role:
You will own end-to-end technology procurement across all spend areas, with a particular focus on software, cloud, OEMs, and computer hardware. Reporting to the VP, Finance, you’ll drive savings, negotiate advantageous terms, optimize our SaaS and cloud portfolios, and ensure internal teams get the right solutions on time and at the right cost. You’ll directly manage a Procurement Specialist and partner closely with Engineering, IT, Finance, Legal, Product and Marketing to support growth.
What you’ll do
- Category leadership (SaaS, Cloud, OEM/resell, Hardware)
- Build and execute category strategies that reduce total cost of ownership while improving supplier performance and resilience.
- Lead SaaS portfolio rationalization and vendor consolidation to prevent tech-stack creep; standardize license tiers and terms.
- Partner with internal business partners to optimize spend (commitment discounts, rightsizing, storage tiering).
- Negotiate, review, and administer vendor contracts to secure advantageous pricing and terms
- Contracting and renewals
- Own renewals calendar and negotiation strategy for all software subscriptions; right-size license counts using utilization data; prevent auto-renew surprises.
- Negotiate commercial and legal terms (pricing, SLAs, data security/DPAs, IP, liability caps, termination, audit rights) with Legal and Security.
- Drive CLM workflows in Agiloft, maintain templates and clause libraries; track cycle times and obligations.
- Sourcing and supplier management
- Run competitive RFP processes and perform TCO analyses; deliver competitive events with clear award criteria.
- Establish supplier scorecards; manage risk (financial health, cybersecurity posture, continuity, compliance) with Security team.
- For OEMs we resell: manage price lists, rebates/discounts, and pass-through terms; and align with Sales/RevOps.
- Operations and compliance
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear business requirements and sourcing plans; set SLAs for intake and turnaround.
- Enforce purchasing policy and process; drive maverick-spend reduction and contract coverage.
- Create and analyze procurement dashboards in NetSuite and Excel/BI; report savings, PPV, cycle time, and compliance KPIs.
- Oversee daily buying operations (RFQs, POs, receipts), supplier onboarding, and master data integrity across NetSuite/Salesforce/Agiloft.
What you bring
- 5+ years in procurement with technology category depth (SaaS, cloud, OEM/resell, hardware) and experience leading or managing others; people-lead experience preferred
- Strong negotiator with contract literacy (MSAs, DPAs, SOWs) and experience in cybersecurity/data protection (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, PIPEDA/GDPR concepts).
- Proven SaaS renewal management and license optimization; vendor consolidation and portfolio rationalization experience.
- Cloud cost management exposure (AWS/Azure/GCP commitments, rightsizing, Engineering collaboration).
- Proficiency with NetSuite (ERP/procure-to-pay), Salesforce (usage/asset/entitlement alignment), and Agiloft (CLM). Advanced Excel; BI tools a plus.
- Data-driven, organized, and able to influence cross-functionally; excellent written and verbal communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations, or related field; or CPSM/MCIPS a plus.
Work model and location
- Hybrid: 3 days/week onsite in Waterloo, Ontario.
- Occasional travel for supplier meetings or team events.
