Role Summary

eSentire is looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to join our dynamic team and lead our contract management operations. We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Manager to oversee our commercial contracting process, lead a team of contract professionals, and ensure efficient contract lifecycle management while minimizing risk and maximizing business value.

Please note: If the successful candidate lives within 50 km of our office in Waterloo, Ontario this will be a hybrid position (Monday and Friday – work from home, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – work onsite). If the successful candidate lives more than 50 km from our office in Waterloo this will be a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to spend a significant portion of their daily duties drafting documentation and managing the contract process, work closely with the eSentire sales teams and other functional areas. The position requires a good understanding of contract language, strong written exceptional negotiation skills, and good relationship management and interpersonal communication skills.

Contract Management

• Lead the development, review, and negotiation of complex commercial contracts

• Oversee contract lifecycle from initiation through execution and renewal

• Develop and maintain contract templates and standardized terms

• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations

• Manage contract database and documentation systems

• Other operational, management duties, and projects as may be assigned

Team Leadership

• Lead and develop a team of contract professionals

• Set performance objectives and conduct regular reviews

• Provide mentoring and professional development opportunities

• Manage workload distribution and resource allocation

Stakeholder Management

• Partner with internal departments including Legal, Sales, Customer Success and Finance

• Build and maintain relationships with external partners and vendors

• Provide strategic guidance on contract-related matters

• Lead contract-related training initiatives

Process Improvement

• Implement and optimize contract management processes

• Drive automation and efficiency initiatives

• Develop reporting mechanisms and analytics

• Lead continuous improvement projects

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Salesforce, DocuSign CLM, Insight and eSignature

• Experience with contract management systems

• Knowledge of data analytics and reporting tools

• Understanding of risk management principles

Skills and Experience

  • University or college degree in business, legal, related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of commercial contract management experience
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Strong understanding of contract law and commercial terms
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Proven leadership and project management abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
