About the role
Reporting into the CEO, we’re seeking a skilled and well-rounded Head of Finance to join the leadership team at an exciting stage of growth. As an ideal candidate, you have proven Finance and Accounting experience in a fast paced and highly dynamic setting. The main goal of this role will be to manage all aspects of the company’s financial operations to ensure stable and sustainable growth, and support all departments to achieve our ambitious goals. You’ll work closely with the CEO and Leadership Team to develop long-term plans to achieve new levels of growth and success at erthos. Your communication, and leadership skills are second to none and you enjoy developing solutions that push innovative boundaries.
In this role you will be responsible for the following key areas. As the new owner of the Finance department, you will be instrumental in defining and building strategies from the ground up.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements and other internal reports for various stakeholders including shareholders, board, government funding agencies such as SR&ED. Manage quarterly and year-end processes, and ensure compliance with all accounting standards and regulations.
- Tax & Compliance: Coordinate all tax filings, ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations, and handle all audits and reviews. Monitor and manage all regulatory compliance requirements.
- Banking & Treasury: Manage domestic and international banking relationships, including cash flow and liquidity, investment and foreign exchange risk management.
- Purchasing & Payables: Oversee the purchasing and payables process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments with well documented approvals and supporting documentation.
- Sales & Receivables: Oversee the billing and receivables process, ensuring timely and accurate estimates, invoices and collections.
- Payroll: Oversee payroll processing, including employee on/offboarding, benefits and remittances, T4s and ROEs.
- FP&A: Lead financial planning and analysis efforts, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and unit economics modelling to support business decision making.
- External Financing: Manage external funder relationships, cap table, and support future equity, debt and grant financing pursuits.
- Corp Admin & Legal: Support corporate governance and administration for erthos and its international subsidiaries. Support the setup of additional subsidiaries as needed.
- Financial Modelling: Lead and support the strategic development and analysis of internal and external budgets, forecasts, product margins, financial ratios for various aspects of the organization.
- Equity & Compensation Management: Manage and monitor company cap table, and stock option plans. Support the build out of compensation plans for departments.
About you
First things first, let’s make sure you check off some of the basics…
- 7+ years of experience in a senior finance role, ideally with experience in a high-growth startup, and/or manufacturing environment.
- Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field. CPA and/or CFA designation strongly preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-based financial tools for bookkeeping, payments, receipt capture, etc.
- Experience preparing consolidated financial statements and intercompany transactions is an asset.
- Experience with fundraising and due diligence processes is preferred, but not required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking and communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
