Purpose

The goal of the Subject Matter Expert (SME), Risk is to be responsible for expanding NDT Global’s technical expertise in the pipeline risk assessments by developing advanced risk models, publishing technical papers in collaboration with operators, leading risk workshops, and mentoring junior risk professionals. This role requires a high degree of proficiency in designing quantitative risk models for pipeline applications. The SME, Risk role also provides support for other departments such as Strategic Sales and Product Management.

Job Requirements

  • Leads quantitative risk assessment model developments, including Monte Carlo simulation, Bayesian, Bootstrapping techniques
  • Collaborates with existing risk clients by leading workshops and providing model improvement recommendations
  • Publishes technical papers in collaboration with pipeline operators
  • Supports other departments such as Strategic Sales and Product Management on shared business needs
  • Communicates with Head of Risk Assessments on process improvement opportunities, deliverable quality control, and new risk regulations
  • Mentors, coaches, and provides constructive feedback to Pipeline Integrity Engineers, Risk
  • Contributes to internal and external thought leadership activities such as marketing webinars, lunch & learns, and white papers
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Certifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering or similar field is required
  • A PhD in engineering or similar field is preferred
  • A professional accreditation (P.Eng. or P.E.) is preferred
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in pipeline risk assessments
  • Minimum of 5 risk-related publications with IPC, PPIM, and/or BPW

Software

  • Familiarity with Python for data analysis
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning models
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Advanced understanding of Stochastic analysis (Monte Carlo simulation, Bayesian, Bootstrapping etc.)
