Head of Application Engineering (f/m/d)
Purpose
As Head of Application Engineering, you will take on a key leadership role within the NDT Global Robotics management team. You will be responsible for the technical aspects of our inspection systems worldwide – with a focus on electronics and mechanics – and will drive innovation and customer-specific solutions. You will lead an international team across multiple locations and act as an interface between product development, sales, customers, and our global subsidiaries.
Your Responsibilities
- Leadership & Accountability:
Lead the global Application Engineering team (Mechanical, Electronics, Inspection Systems) and Project Managers from both a technical and disciplinary perspective, including budget planning - Strategic Management:
Ensure all activities are aligned with corporate goals and regional requirements
Take responsibility for the functionality of all inspection systems deployed worldwide - Project Management & Customer Solutions:
Develop and implement customer-specific solutions, including cost estimation and control
Prepare feasibility studies and cost estimates for new developments and replicas - Process Optimization & Change Management:
Introduce and further develop efficient processes and standards with a strong customer focus
Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Corrective Actions, and continuous improvement initiatives - Technical Problem Solving:
Support in conducting technical analyses to determine the root causes of faults and to formulate effective corrective measures.
Your Profile
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field
- At least 10 years of professional experience in development and project management ideally in the oil and gas industry
- Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in international, cross-cultural teams
- Solid knowledge of continuous process improvement and cost analysis
- Experience with ERP systems (ideally SAP), MS Office, and MS Project
- Familiarity with FEM, PDM (e.g., Pro.File), PLM, and advanced CAD skills
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
