About you:

You are an organized and safety-focused electronics technician with a strong mechanical aptitude. Your technical expertise, combined with your love of solving problems, are the perfect combination to build and test our systems and perform onsite equipment installation, maintenance, and system upgrades at our customer sites.

About the Role:

In this role, you will support projects involving multiple components, ranging from assisting with civil construction to custom software implementation, electronic hardware installations, and preventative maintenance. This role provides a great combination of Edmonton-based, onsite work and travelling in the field.

Reports to: Production Manager

Location: Head office, Edmonton Alberta

Travel: approx. 20% of the time

Key accountabilities include but are not limited to

Fulfill a wide range of functional electrical tasks on Drivewyze Infrastructure systems. This includes:

  • Building and assembling components, isolating malfunctions, coordinating repair activities, and replacing power service points.
  • Monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing systems, equipment, and components.
  • Utilizing diagnostic and utility software to locate problems and repair system equipment.
  • Evaluating and performing repairs, removal/installations, preventative maintenance, and performing emergency repairs at site locations when needed.
  • Fulfill in-house and onsite testing procedures quality assurance checks on a variety of instruments, such as digital camera systems, traffic control systems, dynamic message signs, inductive vehicle detection systems, power service assemblies.
  • Recommend changes and modifications, and safely complete changes for effective system operation.
  • Supporting new system installations and system expansions, partnering with other technicians, external contractors, and agencies. This includes participating in the layout, modification, and fabrication of IIS components used in the field.
  • Adhere to pertinent federal, state, provincial, and local laws, codes, regulations, and traffic control guidelines.
  • Complete as-built markups and corrections to schematics and blueprints.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date system records, work tracking records, and documentation.

Job Requirements:

  • MUST RESIDE IN EDMONTON, ALBERTA CA
  • At least 3+ years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining networking, CCTV, ITS, and/or traffic control systems. Familiarity with networking alarm system installations is an asset.
  • Specialized training in electronics, networking, alarm, and/or CCTV systems.
  • Previous experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex control systems, ideally within the transportation sector.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, practices, and methods used in installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing electronic solid-state camera and illuminator systems, roadside electronic, and associated equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license on the date of application is a requirement. Possession of valid fall arrest and/or elevated platform certification is an asset.

Job physical requirements include:

  • Walking, bending, lifting, repetitive motion, use of hand tools, and test equipment.
  • Driving short and long distances.
  • Operating assigned equipment.
  • Handling equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Climbing ladders with up to 50 lbs.
  • Possible overnight installation.
  • Working from heights, possession of fall arrest, and elevated platform training would be an asset.

Additional Information:

  • The role will be based in our production shop located in Edmonton and is expected to travel up to 50% of the time to various sites. Travel requirements may come up unexpectedly and may fluctuate based on demand.
  • Travel within Canada and United States is required. Security clearances must be obtainable for international and domestic travel.
  • Must be willing to work days, evenings, and weekend shifts as well as rotating shifts on an on-call schedule as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driver's record.
