DigitalEd has a simple and resonant purpose — to shape the world through digital learning. As a SaaS company in the online learning market for higher education, our Möbius platform is a comprehensive solution designed for the unique needs of teaching science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). It’s a product that’s genuinely impacting the way students learn STEM, and with that kind of footprint in the world, imagine the team we’re building behind the scenes. To support our growth, we're searching for a Financial Controller.

A Financial Controller at DigitalEd owns the day-to-day accounting function of the business. Leading the Accounting team, and reporting to the VP of Finance & Operations, the Controller will ensure the right processes are in place to produce accurate and timely reporting to all stakeholders. This includes internal reporting leveraged by the Executive team & Board of Directors, regulatory compliance reporting, as well as working with our external audit partner to complete formal annual financial reports.

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience implementing new systems and tools (Accounting/ERP Software, Payroll Software, Contract Management Software, etc.)

Lastly, being successful is personal. Everyone defines it differently and that’s a-ok. However you define success is up to you, but know that the spirit of DigitalEd’s culture is ‘No Deposit, No Return’. It’s our job in Finance to come up with solutions to support a growing and evolving business, while also maintaining compliance with the regulatory frameworks that “define the box.” We’re looking for an accounting professional who’s ready to use their skillset to paint a masterpiece without running off the page, so if you’re up for being an integral part of a great team, we’d love to talk.

Our projected budget for this role is in the range of $110,000-$120,000 CDN per year.

The Culture Piece: What it's Like to Work Here

The spirit of our aspirational culture is rooted in the concept of ‘No Deposit, No Return’. If you don’t put anything into your professional experience, you won’t get anything out of it. To bring this to life, we lean on our core values: Customer Orientation, Curiosity, Teamwork, Adaptability, Ownership and Coaching. If any of these words strike a chord, then we’ve got something in common.

  • Customer Orientation: Understands the value delivered to the customer, and cares about issues affecting them; anticipating their needs and acting in their best interest.
  • Curiosity: Seeks to learn more, seeing opportunities where others see challenges. Absorbs new information and ideas, applying them to build on learning.
  • Teamwork: Reaches out to peers and leadership to establish an overall collaborative working relationship, building trust and respect for the team's working agreements. Contributes actively to a common goal.
  • Adaptability: Maintains positive outlook and effectiveness by adapting to changing circumstances, responsibilities, and people. Offers and solicits feedback and reacts calmly to criticism or negative feedback.
  • Ownership: Actively focuses on achieving targeted results and objectives, initiating action and owning the outcomes.
