Your role as Senior Data Developer
We are seeking a Senior Data Developer to join Dialogue’s Client Stream team. You will lead the technical implementation of our client-facing data pipelines—powering the systems that enable seamless data integration with large partners so that patients can receive care across every Canadian jurisdiction.
This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, data governance, and backend productionization. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the pipelines that allow our team to share anonymized, curated datasets with partners—enabling continuous monitoring of product performance, real-time eligibility management, and reimbursement processing. These systems make our product better, offer faster care to our members, and reduce out-of-pocket costs for them.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Data Developer, you will serve as the bridge between backend engineering, data analytics, and client operations—ensuring that data-sharing workflows are reliable, observable, and production-ready.
You will design and maintain the pipelines, data architectures, and tooling that enable high reliability, strong data governance, and continuous improvement of our client data-sharing capabilities.
Day-to-day you will:
- Build and maintain data pipelines in Snowflake using dbt for transformation and Airflow for orchestration, ensuring data flows reliably from source systems to partner-facing datasets.
- Design and maintain data models in dbt across staging, intermediate, and mart layers, transforming raw source data into curated, well-documented datasets ready for partner consumption and SOW reporting.
- Design and implement Snowflake Secure Data Sharing configurations to provide partners with governed, near-real-time access to curated and anonymized data.
- Develop and own batch and event-driven data pipelines (Snowpipe, EventBridge) that power eligibility management, engagement reporting, and care reimbursement.
- Implement robust observability for data pipelines—structured logging, data quality checks, freshness monitoring, and alerting—to ensure shared data is accurate and delivered on schedule.
- Manage data infrastructure as code using Terraform (Snowflake roles, warehouses, schemas, and access policies), ensuring reproducibility and auditability.
- Collaborate with data analysts to define and validate reporting metrics (engagement volume, conversion rates, bounce rates) against SOW requirements, ensuring data accuracy before it reaches partners.
- Champion data governance and privacy practices, including anonymization standards, access controls, and compliance with Canadian health data regulations.
We'd love to hear from you if you have
- Have strong experience with Snowflake (including Secure Data Sharing, Snowpipe, and role-based access control) and dbt for data modeling and transformation.
- Have experience with data modeling techniques (dimensional modeling, slowly changing dimensions) and building well-structured transformation layers in dbt and Snowflake.
- Are proficient with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, and comfortable building and maintaining production DAGs.
- Bring solid software engineering fundamentals—version control (Git), CI/CD, testing, observability, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
- Have experience working with AWS services relevant to data pipelines (S3, EventBridge, Secrets Manager, Pinpoint or similar event streaming platforms).
- Understand data governance, anonymization techniques, and the sensitivity required when handling health data in a regulated environment.
- Are comfortable collaborating closely with data analysts, backend engineers, and operational stakeholders in a cross-functional product environment.
- Care about reliability and correctness as much as velocity, and enjoy building systems that are simple, maintainable, and measurable.
- Thrive in environments where your work directly powers real-world operational decisions and partner-facing commitments.
This role is a key technical pillar in enabling Dialogue’s ability to partner with large clients in a professional, scalable manner. You will help us move from manual processes and ad hoc reporting to a robust, governed data-sharing capability that supports highly reliable eligibility verification, engagement reporting, and care reimbursement. Your work will directly contribute to delivering high-quality virtual care at scale—ensuring our data systems are accurate, fast, and production-ready.
Please note that as we serve customers across Canada, bilingualism is an asset for this position. You may be required to communicate in French and English.
