The base salary range for this role starts at $170,000. Final compensation will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience. This role is eligible to participate in our bonus, a performance-based variable compensation program with a target of 15% of base salary. Variable payouts are not guaranteed and are subject to performance and plan terms.

How will you create impact?

As the Engineering Manager at DealMaker, you will lead a growing group of software engineers to deliver new functionality for our users and improve the environment for our entire software development organization.. You will:

  • Build and Lead a MarTech/AdTech Development Team: Your team will improve DealMaker’s marketing and advertising technology, helping our clients attract investors through a variety of channels. You will lead a team of talented engineers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture. You will mentor and guide your team, empowering them to grow their skills and deliver impactful results.

  • Shape the Vision and Strategy of DealMaker's Marketing and Advertising Platform: You will collaborate with engineering leadership and stakeholders across the organization to define a clear vision, strategy, and roadmap for our internal developer platform.

  • Drive the Development and Delivery of High-Impact Solutions: You are an expert at your craft and will work alongside your team designing, building, and scaling our systems and processes. You’ll help your team leverage AI to deliver on our business goals faster.

  • Create a Culture of Technical Excellence: You will set a high bar for code quality, design, and operational readiness. You’ll encourage continuous learning, constructive feedback, and a mindset of experimentation and improvement in your team and across the organization.

You Will

Recruit, hire, onboard, and lead a high-performing team of software engineers.

  • Lead a high-performing team: Mentor, and develop engineers at various levels, fostering a team culture rooted in ownership, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

  • Drive feature delivery and roadmap execution: Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to define technical strategy and lead your team in delivering scalable, high-impact software features.

  • Own and evolve core platform components: Take responsibility for the design, development, and maintenance of foundational systems that power marketing and advertising technology capabilities.

  • Continuously improve system architecture: Identify architectural bottlenecks and lead efforts to modernize, refactor, and improve the structure of our codebase to support long-term growth.

  • Champion engineering best practices: Promote standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and reliability across the team. Ensure that software is built with resilience, maintainability, and scale in mind.

  • Measure and optimize developer experience: Analyze bottlenecks in the development process, implement tools and process improvements, and advocate for investments that reduce cognitive load and increase developer velocity.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively: Provide regular updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities, tradeoffs, and timelines.

What you should have:

  • Proven leadership experience: 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, with a track record of building inclusive, high-performing, and engaged teams.

  • Strong technical foundation: A background in software engineering with hands-on experience designing and delivering complex systems. You are comfortable diving into technical details when needed.

  • Expertise in Ruby on Rails: Deep knowledge of Ruby on Rails and experience building and maintaining production-grade Rails applications. You understand Rails conventions and know when to lean into or challenge them.

  • Experience with Svelte or Other Front-End Frameworks: Familiarity with Svelte or a willingness to learn it. Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and front-end architecture is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills: Able to clearly articulate technical concepts to engineers, product managers, and executives alike. You know how to balance transparency with clarity.

  • Strong collaboration mindset: Demonstrated ability to partner effectively across disciplines and departments. You value input from others and work well in cross-functional environments.

  • Focus on developer experience and platform health: Passionate about improving the development environment and reducing technical debt to help teams move faster and with greater confidence.
