What will your typical day look like?

Working as part of our Infrastructure & Capital Projects Advisory team, you will assist our clients define, evaluate, plan and deliver major capital and construction initiatives. This includes the following:

  • Scope and change management
  • Cost and schedule management
  • Risk and quality management
  • Contract administration
  • Communications and project reporting

You will provide advisory support and independent oversight of initiatives through project/contract reviews, assessments and/or audits and provide advice to our clients’ senior executives and Boards as they proactively strategize and deliver on their large capital projects. 

Using our leading practices on governance, people, processes, technology, and data, our practitioners strengthen our client’s capital projects framework to help mitigate risks on their initiatives. 


 

About the team

Deloitte’s Capital Projects group provides a variety of consulting services to capital project owners, governmental agencies, institutions, developers, or any organization with a significant interest in the successful delivery of a capital project. Our team of experienced engineers, quantity surveyors, construction managers, architects, and auditors possesses comprehensive design and construction industry experience, and has advanced degrees in engineering, business, law, and accounting. Furthermore, through our access to the Deloitte global network of member firms, the Capital Projects group offers a broad range of integrated services in varied professional disciplines and diverse locations.
Our clients are executing large capital projects that in some cases require dedicated site- based resources to support construction management. We are looking for professionals at the Manager level to join our Capital Projects team. Candidates will be flexible and able to travel, as required. We are looking for qualified candidates in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.

 

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

The successful candidate will have:

  • 5-8 years of experience on construction projects from an engineering, construction management, or project controls perspective and understanding or experience with progress measurement, cost and schedule management, risk management, project reporting, contract administration and contractors, architectural/engineering firms, or construction owners;
  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Architecture; Professional Engineering or PMP designation or eligibility;
  • Relevant Construction Management or Cost Certification; 
  • Construction experience;
  • Consulting/Advisory experience to Owners;
  • Proficient use of MS Office software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)Ability to thrive in a team and collaborative setting, to contribute and share ideas, to regularly seek guidance and feedback, and work to ensure the success of the team;
  • Must also be able to work independently, when required, take initiative, maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn;
  • Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence, and superior verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must be eligible for Government of Canada Reliability clearance;
  • Prior experience in the following areas would be an asset:
  1. Developing schedules and the use of related software, such as Primavera P6 or, Microsoft Project; Project Management Information Systems;
  2. Process mapping and the use of related software, such as Visio.
