What will your typical day look like?

As a Senior Consultant, in our Commodity Risk Advisory practice your days might not always be typical as you help advance the client's long-term competitive position.  You will be working with a collaborative team, analyzing client issues to gather information and synthesize findings into business solutions.  Responsibilities can include:
•    Working with clients to understand their business environment and risk management approaches 
•    Facilitating and documenting client meetings and workshops
•    Managing client and key stakeholders’ expectations to help build and sustain long-term relationships with clients 
•    Assisting your project manager with development of deliverables and providing updates on project progress 
•    Supervising junior staff and assisting with the management of client engagements 
•    Reviewing, analyzing, and documenting business processes and gathering requirements
•    Supporting vendor selections and system implementations in a business analyst role
•    Generating innovative ideas and challenging the status quo 
•    Developing your expertise in a specialization and your reputation as a trusted business advisor 
•    Participating in the development and delivery of client proposals and go to market material

About the team

Deloitte’s Commodity Advisory team works with commodity marketing, trading, and supply organizations to help them address key challenges by offering deep experience across the entire spectrum of leading-edge commodity capabilities. Established in 1996, our practice has been helping our clients across the globe successfully participate in the often volatile commodities markets, through the enablement of effective governance, processes and enabling technology.  Our team is comprised of specialists in commodity trading and marketing, transportation and logistics, commodity and credit risk, policies, governance and controls, and commodity trading risk management (CTRM) technology. We also draw on the experience of over 350 other dedicated commodity professionals across our global network who are serving clients in both the energy and agri-business commodity sectors.  Our team has varied skillsets across front, middle and back-office processes as well as the majority of vendor solutions servicing this market segment. 

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone who has:
•    Completed an undergraduate degree with outstanding academic credentials in Business or Technology
•    Strong business acumen with proven analytical skills and systematic problem solving with strong commitment to professional client service excellence
•    3-6 years of relevant (energy, agri-business) commodity industry experience within industry or professional services/consulting
•    Familiarity business requirements gathering, business process analysis, design, and development
•    Demonstrated understanding of energy commodities (i.e. crude oil, refined products, natural gas, LNG electricity), environmental or carbon credits/offsets, or agricultural commodities 
•    Demonstrated understanding of one or more of the following areas: Commodity trading or marketing transactions, transportation and logistics, commodity risk management policies and procedures, use of CTRM technology, CTRM technology selection and/or implementation
•    Attention to detail and commitment to deliver high-quality work products 
•    A self-starter who is equally comfortable working independently or as part of a larger team. 
•    Knowledge in one or more of the following CTRM systems: Allegro, OpenLink, RightAngle, FIS Aligne, Eka, SAP CM/ACM, or similar considered an asset
•    Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams
•    Proficient in English, with superior verbal and written communication including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio. French or Spanish language skills considered an asset. 
•    Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions
•    Ability to work in Canada and travel periodically across Canada.  Ability to work and travel periodically to the United States considered an asset.
