JOB SUMMARY:

Implementation & Training Services helps new and existing customers successfully onboard and launch with D2L products. We prioritize partnering with our customers, by adopting a consultative approach.

As a Project Manager you will oversee the planning, implementation and tracking of single or multiple client projects from beginning to end, including responsibility for project scope, costs, and deliverables. Being a trusted partner and the client's primary point of contact, you will work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and other Services departments to ensure that each client is prepared and enabled for their launch. You can expect to be managing multiple projects concurrently at any given time, and you will be expected to manage and implement projects from initiation to final operational stage. You will lead empowered, matrixed, virtual teams to include D2L, Client and potentially 3rd party personnel. This is a very project-oriented role and most of the tasks completed in this role would be considered billable. Travel may be required.

The role has responsibilities that traverse a broad spectrum of project, business, and technical accountability including project management, requirements facilitation, business analysis, technical solution design, and solution implementation.

HOW WILL I MAKE AN IMPACT?

  • Project Management:
    • Oversee the implementation of multiple concurrent small and medium sized projects for clients
    • Lead the project team in determining client requirements and translating requirements into operational plans
    • Develop and manage project plans, obtain appropriate client and D2L approvals; this includes managing project schedules and budgets
    • Identify and assemble the appropriate blend of resources to meet project needs and requirements when needed, and manage sub-contractors as required
    • Manage project communications, including regular status review meetings among project team members and clients, and prepares supporting project status reports
    • Uses project control procedures to manage changes to the agree plan, including timescales, scope, and budget
    • Identify and assesses risks, severity and impacts; determine and implement risk mitigation strategies and agrees them with the client and internal to D2L as appropriate
    • Conduct requirements analysis to assess client technical readiness and establish an implementation and configuration plan for the solution
    • Support client acceptance testing of deployed solutions
    • Use Project Management methodologies as applied at D2L
  • External and Internal Stakeholder Management:
    • Promote a ‘win/win’ attitude with the client
    • Conduct project retrospectives / lessons learned, as appropriate
    • Ensure D2L/ client adherence to legally binding requirements
  • Internal knowledge and process improvement:
    • Promote knowledge sharing within the company
    • Contribute to internal improvement initiatives as required
    • Keep up to date with D2L and partner products and processes
    • Keep up to date with new technology trends to help facilitate client learning solutions
  • Participate in other billable and non-billable responsibilities as required

Key Competencies:

  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to express ideas and information effectively, convey complex concepts in a straightforward manner and adapt communication style to suit different audiences
  • Ability to instill confidence and influence customers decisions in a consultative manner as a trusted advisor
  • Outstanding organizational skills in order to manage multiple priorities and establish timeframes and resources that are reasonable and attainable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving to track record of identifying issues, gathering relevant information, and employing critical thinking to propose effective solutions
  • Ability to multitask across simultaneous projects, remaining focused and composed even under pressure

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of the practices, procedures and foundation of project management, with the ability to handle many small projects or a few medium/large-sized concurrent projects
  • Working with the following applications is an asset:
    • Smartsheet
    • Lucid Chart
    • Confluence
    • Competency in the use of the MS Office suite of tools

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience Professional Services project management, including delivering client software implementations throughout the end-to-end project lifecycle
  • PMP certification considered an asset

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline

The expected base salary range for a new hire in this role is listed below. The annualized base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and industry. As part of the total compensation at D2L the role may be eligible for additional benefits including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.

Base Salary Range
$72,000$94,250 CAD
