Our mission is to accelerate the commercialization of science for the betterment of humankind. CDL’s nine-month program allows deep-tech founders to learn from experienced entrepreneurs, increasing their likelihood of success.
Position Summary
The Portfolio Operations Manager is a key member of CDL’s Operations team and is responsible for the planning and execution of global program operational activities, as well as managing the entire life-cycle of events and medium-scale projects including, but not limited to; developing project plans, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, developing schedules to ensure timely completion of projects, and executing in-person and virtual events.
The Portfolio Operations Manager reports to the Head of Global Programs while working closely with operations staff in the broader global Creative Destruction Lab team.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
- Steers vast portfolio of initiatives, balancing complexity and risk.
- Crafts project roadmaps, ensuring milestone achievement and outcome alignment.
- Navigates obstacles with agility, implementing robust risk mitigation strategies.
- Forecasts potential hurdles and engineers preemptive solutions.
- Drives project momentum through clear communication and team coordination.
- Optimizes resource allocation to meet critical objectives.
- Researches and writes project documentation including briefing notes, plans, schedules, reports, status updates, using a variety of formats.
Event Management:
- Works collaboratively with the Creative Destruction Lab team to ensure the successful execution of events (in-person and virtual).
- Crafts comprehensive event strategies, overseeing all logistical aspects from conception to execution
- Leads and mentors student assistants and volunteers, providing training and coordinating schedules to ensure seamless event operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in project coordination/project management, leading projects from initiation to closing phases, as well as planning, developing, and implementing new processes.
- Exceptional multitasking abilities: coordinating concurrent projects under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Strong, team-oriented work ethic with a willingness to work independently and asynchronously.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively facilitate groups to achieve appropriate outcomes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply methodologies and tools to diagnose and solve operational problems.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional growth in project management.
- Highly motivated with a strong interest in all aspects of business development and relationship management.
- Proficiency in digital collaboration tools, including G-Suite, Slack, AirTable, Salesforce, and various productivity software.
- Self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision.
