WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Role:

CoolIT Systems is seeking an EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) Specialist to support operations in Calgary, Alberta. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting the company’s EHS program. Key responsibilities include leading inspections and audits, conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and delivering EHS training. The successful candidate will support compliance monitoring, documentation, and reporting as CoolIT pursues COR Alberta and ISO 45001 certifications. This role ensures compliance with legal requirements while promoting employee well-being and environmental responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement EHS Program including policies and procedures for Calgary operations
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes
  • Lead risk assessment initiatives and hazard identification
  • Inventory and analyze current jobs & associated Job Hazard Assessments
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and drills
  • Manage waste disposal and pollution control programs
  • Monitor and analyze work environments and processes for potential hazards
  • Recommend corrective actions and improvements to safety practices
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory agencies
  • Advise management on safety and environmental concerns
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on safety issues
  • Maintain and update safety documentation and records
  • Stay current with changes in environmental health and safety regulations
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies as needed
  • Provide safety training and education to employees
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness

WHO YOU ARE:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, or Certification in Occupational Health & Safety (CRSP, NEBOSH, etc.)
  • 4 pl us years of experience in occupational health and safety
  • COR and/or ISO 45001 auditor certification
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations related to EHS
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and hazard identification techniques
  • Experience with design and management of emergency response programs
  • Experience with industrial hygiene practices
  • Experience with systems design, manufacturing industry and/or operations research
  • Proven track record of successfully managing safety program
