Role
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customers globally and report to the Manager, Field Service Operations. The Field Service Engineer is responsible for aspects of deployments, maintenance, and support of CoolIT products in the field, ensuring all work meets internal quality expectations and industry standards. Over time, this role offers the opportunity to develop into a Project Engineer position, where the individual will take on expanded, project focused roles and responsibilities, including managing complex projects, designing customized solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive customer satisfaction and product innovation.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site and/or remote support for installations of CoolIT products.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on direct liquid cooling (DLC) systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings as required.
- Provide technical support to Authorized Service Providers (ASPs) and end-user on-site technicians, including those supporting Tier 3 and Tier 4 data centers.
- Develop subject matter expertise in CoolIT’s product portfolio.
- Deliver technical training to customers, service technicians, and internal staff, both in-person and remotely.
- Follow established service processes to troubleshoot and resolve issues, coordinating with ASPs as required.
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Complete accurate and timely service documentation, including service reports and system testing records.
- Coordinate and dispatch field service visits in collaboration with end-users and ASPs.
- Support the Project Engineering team by sourcing and securing accurate quotations from Authorized Service Providers.
WHO YOU ARE:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, recently completed or expected with foundational exposure to project workflows through academic projects, internships, or co-op placements.
- Educational background or exposure in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with an understanding of basic control systems and an interest in learning system integration and high-level programming logic.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and able to document work according to established processes.
- Strong professional communication skills, both verbal and written (English).
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and passport and be eligible to pass security checks for customer sites.
- Physically capable of performing field-based work, including lifting up to 50lbs with assistance and working in a remote/home office environment when required.
- Willing and able to travel internationally up to 50% (subject to business needs and travel restrictions).
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong communication and presentation skills, particularly for training delivery and customer interaction.
- Familiarity with software platforms used for Field Service Management (FSM) and related business systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP).
- Foundational knowledge of technical cooling system loops, including awareness of different loop configurations; direct liquid cooling experience is an asset.
- Exposure to mission-critical environments (such as data centers, industrial, or infrastructure facilities) is an asset; training will be provided.
- Familiarity with piping materials and joining methods (e.g., plastic fusion, grooved or clamped piping systems); hands-on experience is an asset but not required.
