WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Role

CoolIT Systems, Inc. is seeking a full-time Senior Test Engineer, who can lead, oversee and support the testing and qualification of Cooling Distribution Unit (CDU) systems, owning verification and validation strategies for mechanical, thermal, and fluid performance. Define test plans, support DFMEA and risk assessments, and oversee reliability and stress testing including HALT, thermal cycling, vibration, and pressure/flow evaluations. Lead instrumentation and data acquisition strategies, perform advanced statistical analysis, and translate results into actionable design improvements. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to test engineers and technicians, collaborate with design, manufacturing, and reliability teams, and communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and customers.

Reporting to Team Lead CDU (Test and Qualification), This role is ideal for a meticulous and technically skilled individual who thrives in a hands-on Mechanical and Electrical testing environment, is passionate about advancing liquid cooling technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and ownership of test strategies, validation plans, and qualification roadmaps for mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems, ensuring alignment with internal engineering standards and customer requirements.
  • Define and optimize test scope, configurations, acceptance criteria, and risk-based coverage for pumps, heat exchangers, PRVs, electrical systems, and fluid systems, with a focus on thermal performance, heat transfer efficiency, and system reliability.
  • Translate complex system requirements into structured test plans, matrices, and execution frameworks, identifying gaps, constraints, and dependencies while ensuring robust coverage and compliance.
  • Facilitate DFMEA-driven design reviews, identify high-risk areas, recommend mitigation strategies, and enforce design-for-test (DFT) and design-for-reliability (DFR) principles.
  • Evaluate materials, tolerances, sealing concepts, and thermal/fluid performance, performing heat transfer analysis, thermodynamic assessments, and energy efficiency optimization.
  • Plan, oversee, and execute reliability and stress tests, including HALT, thermal cycling, vibration, pressure/flow, mechanical load, leak testing, and thermal endurance evaluation, ensuring systems perform under real-world operating conditions.
  • Lead test setup validation, instrumentation strategy, and data acquisition planning, ensuring precise measurement of temperature, pressure, flow, and other critical parameters.
  • Develop and apply advanced statistical and data analysis frameworks (regression, variance, trend, Weibull) to assess performance, reliability, and thermal behavior, converting raw data into actionable engineering insights.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA), implement corrective actions (CAPA), and guide continuous improvement initiatives across cross-functional teams.
  • Create Non-Conformance (NC) reports and review Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), evaluating validation impact, risks, and test requirements for thermal, fluid, and mechanical systems.
  • Provide feedback and guidance in Product Requirements Documents (PRD), System Requirements Documents (SRD), and design reviews, ensuring testability, thermal performance, and reliability considerations are incorporated early in design.
  • Mentor and guide test engineers and test technicians, providing technical direction, best practices, and support for test execution, data analysis, and problem resolution.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, reliability, and suppliers to resolve technical issues, optimize system performance, and enhance thermal efficiency and fluid system behavior.
  • Prepare and present data-driven technical reports, dashboards, and qualification summaries, communicating findings, risks, and recommendations to leadership, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Participate in technical reviews, design gates, and project milestones, providing analytical feedback, mentorship, and guidance on thermal, fluid, and mechanical testing best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership on heat exchanger sizing, fluid dynamics optimization, and thermal system improvements, supporting system-level design and qualification decisions.
