As demand for generative AI, high performance computing and cloud solutions rapidly expands, there has never been a more exciting time to join our team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Role:

The Mechanical Engineer role focuses on the innovative design and development of Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) for direct liquid cooling systems. The position involves leading the entire design lifecycle from concept to mass production, collaborating with various teams and partners, and continuously improving product designs for enhanced performance and manufacturability. This role requires a strong mechanical engineering background, proficiency in CAD and simulation tools, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with core teams, customers, and industry partners to ensure our CDU designs are delivered on time, meeting and exceeding market needs
  • Lead the NPI design of Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) from concept through product launch and mass production
  • Detailed product design using principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical engineering with a focus on delivering high performance and high reliability designs
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, reports, design reviews, and other documentation to clearly explain convey design ideas, test results, and recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Use advanced computer simulations to check and improve the performance of our CDU designs
  • Support rapid iteration of design concepts through technology assessment, feasibility analysis, and proofs of concept, oversee the building and testing of thermal, hydraulic, and integrated assembly prototypes for validation
  • Perform and support physical validation testing, collect and analyze performance and reliability data, and refine designs based on the results to achieve the desired thermal and mechanical performance
  • Deliver designs that can be manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively at scale
  • Continuously look for ways to make our CDU designs better performing, improve reliability, reduce costs, and increase efficiency

WHO YOU ARE:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or directly related discipline
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience with 2+ years in a product design role
  • Proven understanding of designing parts and assemblies for mass production using various manufacturing methods (e.g., sheet metal, machining, casting, injection molding, and welded assemblies)
  • Understanding of fluid dynamics principles, especially as they relate to heat transfer and fluid flow in cooling systems
  • Understanding of pump, motor, and sensor selection or design
  • Understanding of DfX techniques; design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Reliability, Maintenance, Test, etc.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for detailed mechanical designs & drawings
  • Experience with rapid prototyping manufacturing techniques and testing of thermal/mechanical components; familiarity with lab equipment for data collection (Preferred)
  • Design for Lean Six Sigma or related statistical product design methodologies (Preferred)
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills · Capacity to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners · Strong problem-solving, analysis, and risk mitigation skills · Excellent time management and organizational skills

Abilities:

  • Proven ability to apply engineering principles to the design release process: GD&T, statistical tolerance analysis, etc.
  • Ability to lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems · Ability to decompose product requirements into functional requirements for subassemblies and components
  • Aptitude for continuous improvement in design and manufacturing processes · Ability to perform advanced fluid mechanical, structural, and/or vibrational simulations and analyses
  • Strong sense of urgency and responsiveness
