WHAT YOU’LL DO
Role
We have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer- Electrical Assembly to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. This role focuses on enhancing our electrical assembly processes, particularly for PLCs, PSUs, electrical panels, and cable assemblies. You will collaborate closely with our manufacturing and design teams, as well as suppliers, to improve current manufacturing processes and equipment while developing new methods for our industry-leading Direct Contact Liquid Cooling (DCLC™) products for Enterprise/OEM server-based cooling applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes specific to electrical assembly to reduce labor costs and maintain quality, safety, and ergonomics.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive manufacturing documentation (process flows, work instructions, and procedures) for electrical assembly processes to standardize work and enhance quality.
- Provide production-level tools to improve productivity and safety, and maintain these tools and equipment to enhance the quality, throughput, and reliability of processes.
- Support and maintain all manufacturing equipment related to electrical assembly to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Lead troubleshooting of production and quality problems, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Design and document process steps for wire preparation, including cutting, crimping (various types), and soldering.
- Analyze production data, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
- Assess and implement new assembly jigs, test fixtures, and technology/equipment.
- Coordinate/facilitate new product introduction and engineering change management activities for electrical assembly production.
- Develop and implement product packaging and labeling for traceability specific to electrical components.
- Maintain a working knowledge of industry best practices, trends, and technologies to continually drive innovation and process improvement in CoolIT’s manufacturing facilities.
WHO YOU ARE
Basic Qualifications
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Electro/Mechanical Technology, or Industrial Engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record for completing manufacturing process development projects in electrical assembly.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MES and PLM software, and ERP frameworks.
- Experience developing manufacturing processes and associated documentation.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and production methods.
- Knowledge of BOM and routings and Engineering Change Management.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a electrical assembly processes in manufacturing
- Experience with server and server-related technologies.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization and with internal customers
- Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software
- Demonstrated strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent teamwork in cross-functional settings.
