Role

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our team as the Senior Project Engineer. As a member of the Professional Services (PFS) team, you will be accountable for the end-to-end activities required to deliver successful data center deployments with global tier 1 customers.

Your role as a Senior Project Engineer will be to work closely with customers, internal stakeholders and vendors to ensure seamless execution of ongoing projects. You will be responsible for leading in all areas of your projects while mentoring and providing support to junior level engineers as they grow and develop as key contributors to our team. As an engineer with experience in product sales, design, deployment and maintenance, your knowledge will be leaned on by internal and external stakeholders to drive innovative solutions while managing risk, cost and resource allocation. Your input will be significant and valued as CoolIT continues to push the boundaries of liquid cooling technology in the data center industry.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead the full scope of the project from initiation to completion, often handling multiple projects at once. Responsible for larger key customers in the Data Center industry.
• Work alongside our dedicated service team to coordinate onsite and remote support for installation, commissioning and maintenance of CoolIT products.
• Design, validate and deliver liquid cooling solutions while ensuring that all project requirements are executed and within industry and corporate standards.
• Lead the design and validation process for large scale projects, making high-level decisions regarding project scope, design, implementation, and risk management.
• Act as a technical liaison between Professional Services and other key internal stakeholders to ensure that new products are designed with considerations from a field and serviceability perspective.
• Oversee the work of other engineers providing mentorship, guidance, and technical support to help them grow.
• Maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring the project meets their expectations.
• Ensure that the project stays on budget and schedule, making adjustments as necessary and forecasting potential risks.
• Provide high-level technical expertise and guidance across the project, resolving any complex technical issues that arise.
• Continuously evaluating project performance, identifying areas for improvement, and driving process changes to enhance project execution in the future.
• Take full ownership of Identifying potential risks to the project (e.g., delays, cost overages) and implementing strategies to mitigate them.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• A Bachelor of Applied Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline. 4-6 years recent related experience following professional registration; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Membership or eligibility for immediate membership as a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
• Sound technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and their application in relevant discipline. Ability to act as a resource to staff and provide sound and practical guidance for unusual or problem situations.
• Proven contract administration and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a series of project components for large complex projects to meet multiple time based deliverables requiring a high level of detail and accuracy.
• Upholds CoolIT Systems reputation through positive and forthright dealings with external customers and other key stakeholders.
• Proficiency using Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time and hold a valid passport (International Travel).
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Field engineering experience and/or Data Center related experience from a related field.
• Experience with creating, reviewing and approving 3-D and 2-D mechanical models.
• Experience with Autodesk programs including Revit MEP, Navisworks and Inventor.
• PMP Certification or equivalent would be an asset
• Experience in selling and deploying products in partnership with customers, end-users and other stakeholders seen as an asset.

• Excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to explain difficult concepts and persuade others to adopt a point of view or way of doing things.
