Role

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

We are seeking a talented Thermal Engineer to join our Advanced Technology Team. If you enjoy solving problems, finding novel solutions, are eager to learn new topics and skills and challenge yourself in various ways in a fun, dynamic and supportive group, with the following qualification, then this position is for you.

This role will report to Thermal-Mechanical Manager-ATG and will be integral to advancing the electronic cooling industry. The job location will be in Calgary Head Office.

Responsibilities

• Research the latest developments in thermal engineering for electronic cooling in high performance compute and enterprise server.
• Apply learnings to new inventions that will advance CoolIT’s position as the leading supplier of liquid cooling products.
• Perform CFD/FEA and other simulations to accurately model new concepts.
• Work with the team to develop products based on new concepts.
• Participate in joint development activities with customers and partners.
• Design component and system level testing.
• Perform hands on testing in the lab and prototype the concept designs.
• Document simulations, designs, test results and provide recommendations for next steps.
• Design product concepts, review DFMs and work with vendors to evaluate new technology.
• Foster a culture of innovation.
• Develop ways of automating everyday workload.
  
  

Who You Are

Basic Qualifications:

• MSs, or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering with focus on thermal/Fluid.
• 3+ Years of relevant experience in cooling technology design and testing.
• Previous experience in thermal-fluid design and analysis.
• Previous in-depth experience with design of experiments, experimental setup, and data acquisition.
• Familiar with flow boiling in micro channels.
• Previous experience in selection and evaluation of pumps, heat exchanger for cooling units.
• Previous experience in the lab environment for maintenance of equipment, sensor calibration and data acquisitions.
• Expert level proficiency in CAD design using SolidWorks.
• Expert level proficiency in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics).
• Proficiency in programming and developing coding (preferably in Python).
• Passionate about new technologies and a self-learner.
• Enjoys and contributes to a collaborative culture where nothing is impossible.
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve product design methodologies and manufacturing processes to enhance overall system efficiency and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with data center cooling strategies.
• Previous experience working with direct liquid cooling, specially pumped two-phase loops with refrigerants and evaporative cooling.
• Experience with developing custom codes in LabVIEW.
• Good understanding of Hydronics system designs and solid understanding of fluid dynamics and heat transfer principles.
• Proficient in design, simulation, and selection of Heat exchangers and pumps.
• Create detailed mechanical designs & drawings.
