Role
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
CoolIT’s products help its customers drive energy savings within data centers and personal computing, contributing towards a more sustainable infrastructure as computing demands continue to grow. As part of KKR’s Global Impact Fund, CoolIT is focused on ensuring it can accurately measure and convey the energy savings of its products, in addition to actively managing material ESG topics throughout its operations.
As the Manager, ESG & Sustainability, you will be responsible for shaping and leading key Impact and ESG initiatives at CoolIT. You will collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders in achieving those initiatives. You will help develop and monitor key Impact and ESG metrics and reporting systems. You will be the main point of reference for all Impact and ESG work at CoolIT, both internally and externally.
The Manager, ESG & Sustainability will be based in Calgary and will report directly to the CFO. The role will also involve frequent collaboration with the CEO, VP People, and Board members, as well as partnering with other senior executives within CoolIT.
This is a strategic, hands-on and collaborative role that requires vision, executional drive and strong stakeholder management skills. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about Impact and ESG issues and is able to demonstrate exceptional judgement and integrity.
Your work will play a critical part in delivering on our core objective of helping customers reduce their emissions footprint, as part of a contribution towards a net zero future of data centers, while considering the wider community, environment and the ecosystem in which we operate.

Responsibilities
- Shape and drive CoolIT’s ESG and product impact/sustainability strategy and agenda
- Develop, implement and monitor organizational Impact and ESG initiatives, with a focus on ensuring progress against the material ESG topics most relevant to CoolIT and meeting KKR Global Impact Fund’s objectives
- Drive progress against, and ensure high-quality outputs for, key initiatives including (but not limited to) annual GHG footprinting (Scope 1-3), development of a net zero, SBTi-aligned, decarbonization plan, and a supply chain risk / resilience program
- Coordinate and lead internal and external stakeholders (including consultants/advisors as needed) to implement the different initiatives and achieve the proposed strategy
- Implement reporting processes and data sources to facilitate the collection, monitoring and analysis of product impact/sustainability metrics, working with consultants to manage a lifecycle assessment or similar study to quantify the environmental performance of CoolIT’s products relative to peers
- Lead internal and external reporting on Impact and ESG performance, including the completion of surveys/requests to comply with regulatory, investor, and other requirements, as well as the development of impact/ESG reports
- Help identify and obtain any relevant Impact and ESG certifications (B-Corp or others)
- Be an ambassador for CoolIT, representing our mission and values, and represent CoolIT in external networking events or conferences related to Impact and ESG.
- Engage our employees in our initiatives as applicable
Basic Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience, with 5+ years of experience driving ESG/Sustainability initiatives within a Corporate environment or a consulting firm
- Post Secondary Education
- Strong interest in ESG and passion for helping companies achieving meaningful impact for the wider community, environment and ecosystem
- Strong project management skills
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Strong quantitative skills, data analysis and visualization
- A good mix of strategic work and hands-on executional experience
- Bias for action, results driven, ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with energy emissions management / reduction planning
- Post secondary education in Environmental studies, Health & safety or related field
