About the job

ContactMonkey is on the lookout for an Site Reliability Engineer 1 to help build and refine our production infrastructure and deployment capabilities in a SOC2 and GDPR compliant environment.

Your impact

  • Be active within your team and the company - participate in meetings; assist with the implementation of technical initiatives; escalate questions or issues when necessary. Help evangelize the SRE Discipline across the organization.
  • Assist with complex problems and aid in the effective implementation of solutions.
  • Execute on tasks related to Infrastructure, Access Control, CI/CD, Compliance, Change Management and more
  • Contribute meaningfully to technical projects within your team as well as cross-team projects.
  • Help develop effective tools, services, alerts and responses to identify and address reliability risks.
  • Help ensure SOC2 and GDPR compliance as well as Best Practices.
  • Assist with technical efforts and contribute to engineering roadmaps, especially continuing to improve automation around infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
  • Help identify, plan, and implement the future technical direction of our deployments with an effort to improve reliability and performance.
  • Work closely with other members of the engineering team to triage production issues and identify appropriate resolutions.
  • Help implement tooling and infrastructure to support test automation strategies.
  • Contribute to the building, and managing of various CI/CD and Data Pipelines
  • Contributing to deployment plans and executing them
  • Helping to improve automation of deployments through tooling and process improvement
  • Assisting with the maintenance of development, staging, and production environments while aiding in the continuous improvement of our IAC strategy (Terraform, ArgoCD, CircleCI)
  • Aiding in the operation, maintenance and improvement of our Kubernetes tooling and strategies

About you

  • You have at least 2+ years of experience in an SRE or DevOps focused role, responsible for supporting, scaling and ensuring reliability of end-to-end infrastructures.
  • You understand the fundamentals of observability and monitoring of systems and services, can identify the leading tools in the space, and have exposure to one or more of them in practical applications.
  • You have been hands-on with both AWS and Kubernetes (not necessarily EKS) in a production environment.
  • You have experience supporting test automation initiatives such as integrating automated testing with CI/CD pipelines.
  • You recognize the importance of identifying Best Practices and are passionate about resisting unjustified deviation from them.
  • You recognize the value of keeping things simple within complex environments and the importance of justifying change.
  • You appreciate and are disciplined about consistency, conventions, and are motivated to leave everything you touch in a better state than you found it.
  • You appreciate the complexities of working within a larger team and recognize the importance of transparent communication.
  • You enjoy incremental improvements to processes and workflows and look for ways to make all stakeholders benefit from the work you do.
  • You are passionate about new challenges, confident in your ability to apply critical thinking, and can communicate your ideas effectively in small groups.
  • You are eager to learn from experienced colleagues and are looking to elevate your skills in an exciting environment.

How you can stand out (optional)

  • Moderate-to-advanced programming experience, preferably in a high-level language like Ruby or Python
  • Experience with one or more of SOC2, HIPAA, PCI, HITRUST, GDPR and other regulatory frameworks
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies beyond scrum
  • Knowledge of Test Automation Strategies and tooling and different testing methodologies.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases in production environments.
  • Experience and drive towards developer productivity and tooling
  • Have an opinion about complexity and its role in SaaS Environments
