About the job

Our People Operations Manager reports to the Director of People and will be the first of this position within the organization. A successful People Operations Manager is excited by the challenge and impact of building people programs in a fast-growing, startup environment. In being different, our People Operations Manager has a personal and authentic approach to people strategy while leaning into best practices they have collected along the way. You love to solve problems and don't typically say “no”, rather, “how?” In being curious and customer obsessed, we love to stay close to the employee journey so that we are the voice of the employee from onboarding through until offboarding.

Our people are the heart of the business and are critical to our success. As our People Operations Manager, you partner with the People team to build a memorable place to work with the goal of elevating our employees to their highest potential. Your superpower is to solve people-puzzles while delivering outstanding customer service to our employees and business leaders.

Your impact

  • Collaborating closely with the Director of People and Head of Talent to provide solutions related to performance management, talent management, learning & development, compensation, benefits, payroll and more
  • Idealizing, implementing and running ContactMonkey’s people processes in new, creative and personal ways
  • Acting as ContactMonkey’s resource for all employee relations topics such as: hiring and termination best practices, inquiries from employees about policies, and more
  • Improving employee engagement, productivity and growth through partnering with business unit leaders to proactively address challenges
  • Supporting in the creation of a seamless office relocation (yes, we’re moving!). Participating in building out an office environment that fosters collaboration, learning and productivity for ContactMonkey’s employees long term
  • Supporting to ensure smooth office operations and a great employee experience
  • Designing, executing and implementing new hire onboarding programs
  • Taking ownership of key initiatives relating to employee engagement, rewards, and recognition
  • Lifting materials between 20-50lbs as needed

About you

  • 3-5 years of HR Operations experience
  • Experience in a scale-up environment where there has been significant growth / change
  • A proven track record of success in both strategy and execution
  • Lives in Toronto and will love to commute to our downtown Toronto office regularly
  • HR certification and/or university degree in a related discipline
  • Expertise in employee relations including up to date knowledge of Canadian and U.S. employment laws
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Very high attention to detail, multi-tasking and managing priorities are critical to success in this position
  • Hands-on experience with HR management reporting using Google Sheets/Excel, including data collection, aggregation, structuring and analysis.
