Overview

CloudHawk is a commercial-grade telematics system with industrial IoT sensors built to provide the best real-time accuracy for businesses with valuable fleet assets.

We are looking for an experienced full stack developer who can make a big impact on our CloudHawk web portals and backend services, which enable core user-facing features including our Live Map, alerting, geo-fences, reporting, trip replay, and account management. The initial project planned for this new role will be to prototype a new portal framework and a new location microservice.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical ability, good intuition for design of both frontend and backend systems, and the experience to see through the hype of the latest web technology fads. Initiative and know-how to own projects from concept to implementation is a given. This role and compensation will be tailored to meet your qualifications and experience.

What You'll Be Doing: • Design and implement features for CloudHawk backend services and web portals • Prototype and evaluate new concepts and technologies • Improve, refactor and implement backend REST APIs and processing • Develop data mining, analytics, and reporting capabilities • Measure and improve performance/reliability/security across the full stack • Instrument services to ensure leading-edge observability and analytics • Implement automated tests to ensure high quality and easy maintainability

Experience You'll Bring to the Team: • Several years of experience in web development, front, and backend • Degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent • Microservice and REST API implementation in Golang, Python • Hands-on with HTML5/JS/CSS and single-page web apps and frameworks • Integration with Google Maps, Mapbox, or similar mapping services • Client-side real-time web applications using WebSockets • Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and tech (Ansible, Terraform, K8s, Docker) • Data design using various technologies (RDBMS, NoSQL, NewSQL) • Agile development process and tools, CI/CD

Experience that would be an Asset: • IoT/mobile full-stack engineering • Data science and custom data visualization with tools like D3.js • Security, billing systems, payments, SSO, user account/login management • Adaptive web UI for mobile/tablet/desktop; web accessibility; localization • Hybrid mobile app UI development (Ionic/Framework7/React Native/etc.)

Other Requirements • Due to COVID-19, work is remote for now with the expectation that you will join us in our office in Waterloo, ON once the pandemic is over • Must be eligible to work in Canada • Minimum 6 years web full-stack development experience
