Auxiliary Foundations of Medicine & Healthcare Instructor (Summer 2026)

- Date: Monday 17th of August - Friday 21st of August 2026
- Time: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM MT
- Location: Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (South of Calgary, near Okotoks).
- If called upon, and attend 2-hour onboarding session in July plus self-directed training prior to stepping into the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Create lesson plans and lead engaging and comprehensive classroom sessions with teen learners following Circuit Stream's Foundations of Medicine & Healthcare course curriculum (curriculum and Instructor guides provided)
- Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship to students as they ideate, develop, and iterate on their final project, a Medical Log Book
- Showcase proficiency in in making treatment recommendations based on symptoms and scenarios
- Share real-world experiences, case studies, and insights to offer students a holistic understanding of the field.
- Grade assessments that accurately measure student understanding and progress within the course.
Requirements
- Availability to teach during the day (9:00 AM - 3:30 PM) between July and August 2026 if called upon.
- Availability to attend 1–2 training days in July prior to teaching.
- Previous professional experience in health and patient care in a clinical environment.
- Nursing designation (RN, LPN, RPN or NP), current Medical School student working towards M.D. or Faculty member of nursing or medical programs.
- Proficient at evaluating medical data and delivering recommendations for patient’s care.
- Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
- Innate logical thinking and the ability to inspire and nurture logical thinking in students.
- A passion for guiding and mentoring students, fostering their growth, and providing meaningful feedback.
- Willingness to adapt to evolving curriculum needs, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
- A collaborative attitude, eager to contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
- A proactive attitude towards ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and stay up-to-date with industry advancements.
- Teaching, TA or training experience is an asset.
