Instructor, Foundations of Medicine and Healthcare

Description

Circuit Stream is a leader in future technology skills training and learning content. We offer world-class educational services for teen and adult learners with a focus on the skills needed to leverage immersive and emerging technology.
We are seeking passionate healthcare practitioner, who can teach medical fundamentals in our Foundations of Medicine & Healthcare courses for learners aged 13-18. In the course, students will explore the foundations of the different medical occupations and will learn how organs and systems work together to maintain a state of balance. They will be exposed to industry-standard frameworks and theories that will help them predict how body systems respond under different conditions. Through controlled simulations, students will analyze real-world medical cases, interpret symptoms, and develop initial treatment plans. The ideal instructor for this course should either have a nursing background (RN, LPN, RPN or NP) or currently in medical school working towards M.D., and should have some teaching, TA or training experience.
Foundations of Medicine & Healthcare is offered at the University of Toronto Hart House. The Instructors hired to teach this course must be available from 9:00am-3:30pm MT from June 29-July 10 (plus 1 week in June for training).
Candidates selected for interviews will be contacted starting in February 2026.
Responsibilities
  • Create lesson plans and lead engaging and comprehensive classroom sessions with teen learners following Circuit Stream's Foundations of Medicine & Healthcare course curriculum (curriculum and Instructor guides provided)
  • Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship to students as they ideate, develop, and iterate on their final project, a Medical Log Book
  • Showcase proficiency in in making treatment recommendations based on symptoms and scenarios
  • Share real-world experiences, case studies, and insights to offer students a holistic understanding of the field.
  • Grade assessments that accurately measure student understanding and progress within the course.
Requirements
  • Availability to teach during the day (from 9am-3:30pm) in July and August 2026 (dates listed above)
  • Previous professional experience in health and patient care in a clinical environment.
  • Nursing designation (RN, LPN, RPN or NP), current Medical School student working towards M.D. or Faculty member of nursing or medical programs.
  • Proficient at evaluating medical data and delivering recommendations for patient’s care.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
  • Innate logical thinking and the ability to inspire and nurture logical thinking in students.
  • A passion for guiding and mentoring students, fostering their growth, and providing meaningful feedback.
  • Willingness to adapt to evolving curriculum needs, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
  • A collaborative attitude, eager to contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
  • A proactive attitude towards ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and stay up-to-date with industry advancements.

Compensation
