We are looking for an Accounting Manager to oversee financial reporting, general ledger management, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance. This role is critical in maintaining the financial health of the organization and supporting the fractional Finance Director in strategic decision-making. This role will manage the AR/AP Specialist and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Note: This role will based full-time (5 days per week) in our Circuit Stream office, 1011, 1st Street SW.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Ledger & Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with ASPE standards.
  • Prepare financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.
  • Conduct variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, providing insights to leadership.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.

Audit & Compliance:

  • Manage audits and liaise with external auditors, ensuring compliance with CRA regulations.
  • Oversee tax filings, including GST/HST and QST returns.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies to mitigate risk.

Process Improvement & Internal Controls:

  • Identify and implement automation solutions to enhance reporting efficiency.
  • Develop and refine internal processes to strengthen financial oversight and compliance.

Supervision & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff.
  • Review and approve account reconciliations, ensuring financial accuracy.
  • Prepare financial presentations for leadership, highlighting any key trends and insights.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and Canadian tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to present financial data to stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience working in finance roles within start-ups and small companies
