We are looking for a Finance Director (Fractional Part-Time, 20 hours per week) to oversee and enhance the company’s financial processes, reporting, and strategic planning. This is a unique opportunity to shape the finance function at a high-growth scale-up. You will work closely with the leadership team, contributing to key decision-making and ensuring financial health and compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support strategic decision-making.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to the leadership team.

Accounting & Compliance:

  • Oversee accounting team operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with ASPE.
  • Manage audits, tax filings, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Cash Flow:

  • Monitor cash flow, optimize working capital, and develop strategies for managing financial resources effectively.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Partner with the Cofounders to develop and execute the company’s financial strategy.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on growth opportunities, cost optimization, and risk management.
  • Establish and refine financial processes and systems to support scalability.
  • Mentor, and grow a dynamic internal accounting team.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or CFA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in finance/accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Expertise in ASPE and financial compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with financial software (e.g. QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability for part-time in-office working model in our Calgary office
