About the opportunity:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to support MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) purchasing for North American facilities while serving as a key liaison with our global Supply Chain team in Shenzhen (SZ). This role will also support manufacturing operations at the Kitchener facility and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, cost control, and operational performance.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, demonstrates strong cross-functional collaboration skills, and is driven to continuously improve processes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end MRO procurement activities for North American facilities, including sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, and purchase order management.
- Ensure timely availability of consumables, tools, equipment, spare parts, and facility-related materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and implement controls to prevent stockouts or excess inventory.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with MRO suppliers to optimize cost, quality, and service levels.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier consolidation, contract negotiations, and demand management.
- Act as a primary point of contact between North American operations and the Shenzhen (SZ) Supply Chain team.
- Support global sourcing initiatives and align procurement strategies across regions.
- Partner closely with manufacturing, engineering, and production planning teams to support material requirements and production schedule.
- Identify, recommend, and implement supply chain process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
- Streamline procurement workflows, supplier onboarding, and inventory management processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean and operational excellence principles.

The experience and skills we value:
- Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Purchasing
- 2-3+ years’ experience in related position
- Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills
- Strong problem solving and negotiation skills
- Self-starter and effective working with cross-functional global teams
- Proficient in using MS Office and ERP/MRP systems (e.g. JD Edwards)
