Product Safety Analyst

About the opportunity:
We’re looking for a qualified Product Safety Analyst to bring their knowledge and expertise to the engineering compliance team. You’ll have opportunities to conduct product safety analysis of Christie products in-house and provide engineering with relevant knowledge to enable compliant design and work with external agencies to ensure certification within acceptable schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct product safety evaluations as per requirements of Certification Agencies and IEC/ISO 17025
- Compile report packages for submission to Agencies
- Host Agency witness testing and construction reviews and follow through with updates if necessary
- Schedule testing on the basis of agreed upon priorities
- Maintain testing schedule and status reports
- Write clear and accurate safety test procedures to be acceptable to Certification Agencies
- Maintain knowledge of latest product safety requirements and test equipment applicable to Christie products
- Maintain test equipment and calibration records
- Design, assemble and maintain special test jigs
- Provide design recommendations to Engineering related to safety
- Assist with compliance training of other departments
- Provide backup support to compliance coordinator to obtain quotes, create purchase requisitions, create shipping memos, pack samples, liaise with third party agencies and obtain product certifications
Location: on-site position based in Kitchener, ON

The experience and skills we value:
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering with 2-5 years of experience in product safety testing and analysis
- Experience with scheduling product testing, standards interpretation and report documentation
- Hands-on experience with sample preparation, product construction analysis and test equipment operation
- Excellent time management, prioritization and communication skills
- Experience troubleshooting and calibrating test equipment
- Experience training staff in testing standards and procedures
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs. on regular basis and up to 50 lbs. with assistance
- Able to stand for extended periods of time when setting up and conducting tests
What will put you ahead:
- P. Eng designation, an asset
- Experience working in ISO 9001 certified organization
- Knowledge/experience with AV products
