By leveraging cloud and data platforms, AI and machine learning, robotics and automation, and quantum computing, DeepTech Bio Lab aims to catalyze a step-change in how life sciences innovation is developed, scaled and delivered.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Technical Lead/Senior Leader to support a multidisciplinary team for a life sciences/quantum computing initiative that will leverage Quantum Computing to solve high impact biological problems. The consultant will work with workstream leaders to support crafting the strategic path and build-out of the initiative. This includes performing a team gap analysis and providing input on essential hires and required skillsets for a data sciences group. The consultant will also work with the Project Development team to discuss the feasibility of potential use cases, and to provide feedback on prioritization of opportunities. The individual will also provide feedback on digital tools/models that will be required to address use-cases.

This role requires a deep understanding of quantum mechanics, computer science, and life sciences, as well as the ability to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of quantum technologies. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 10+ years industry experience in biotechnology, computational biology or computer science
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Systems Biology, Data Science, or Bioinformatics
  • Experience in biotechnology and computer science; demonstrated ability to navigate synergies between life sciences and digital tools
  • Experience building effective teams
  • Strategic leadership in cross-functional initiatives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Established network of industry contacts/relationships at the intersection of life sciences and high-performance computing
  • Track record in managing large-scale, complex technical projects
  • Experience working in high growth, entrepreneurial organizations

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving innovation: Help lead the development of quantum technologies and applications within the advanced therapies sector.
  • Strategic planning: Collaborate with teams to create and implement quantum computing strategies that align with the sector’s goals.
  • Road mapping: Help define and implement a roadmap aligned with business goals in biotech and life sciences.
  • Research and development: Oversee research initiatives that leverage quantum computing across the value chain, including for discovery, personalized medicine and manufacturing.
  • Solution design: Input into architecting scalable solutions for discovery and testing, manufacturing automation, clinical trials, regulatory submissions, and real-world evidence generation.
  • Infrastructure: Help design solutions leveraging cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or on-premises infrastructure while ensuring data security and regulatory compliance.
  • Performance optimization: Help drive efficiency in generative models, ensuring cost optimization and scalability while maintaining data integrity and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate quantum computing into existing processes and develop new ones.
  • Training: Ensure education of cross-functional teams, including platform teams and development teams, to enable the execution of key projects.
  • Research and innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in synthetic data generation to incorporate emerging technologies into the company’s strategy.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Systems Biology, Bioinformatics or a related field
  • Industry experience with high performance or quantum computing
  • Expertise in AI or ML and working with large data sets
  • Fundamental understanding of life sciences including cell biology and bioinformatics
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
