Frontend Engineer
In short: An experienced frontend engineer. Flexible working hours. Based in Toronto. Work directly with the founding team.
Currently, Cargoflip has a working product but we need to take our UI and frontend experience to the next level. We are searching for an experienced engineer who can help set our technological vision and build the team and culture that can scale this vision of empowering small businesses to grow internationally.
What will you do?
In charge of the user-facing side of the Cargoflip web app
Work closely with our other engineers and the founders to bring our UI goals to life
Work together with design team to transform our Figma designs into real components
Interview early adopters to gain a deeper understanding of our customer needs
Maintain design consistency using reusable components for development
Grow with the team and support the future growth of our tech team

Frontend: React, Next.JS, Alpine.JS, Tailwind CSS
Backend: Ruby on Rails

Who are we looking for?
You understand how to create and test high fidelity prototypes and communicate your findings with different roles
You enjoy designing and building web apps from scratch and understand the process of working with Figma prototypes
You like creating SaaS user journeys and are able to think how to best fit it into our users' day and work
You are not scared of building custom UI components whenever existing frameworks are not sufficient
You understand design and engineering trade-offs and like taking pragmatic decisions under time constraints
You have experience and the willingness to mentor other team members and help them develop their skills and leadership abilities
Our Process
We are mindful of your time and try to make sure the entire process finishes within a week or two.
Initial call: We use this call to get to know you and clarify any questions you may have so that expectations align on both sides. We will also use this to pitch Cargoflip.
Meet the rest of the team: This is essential to see if we enjoy working with each other. Team fit is really important for us.
Technical Assessment: Here we want to see which technical decisions you have taken and why? We may ask you to write a small piece of code or let you explain any code that you have previously written.
Case meeting with founders: Discussion on the process so far and viewpoints on the potential future problems and how you plan to resolve them.
Reference checks: We ask for references from your past here. You can also talk to one of our investors and get to know who you're you'll be working with more.
